OT but in answer to above.

D10 is great in it's own right, but I am listening to Lady Jane by Jane Dubec. I'm playing it on a 5.5G via D10, and a 6G to Lisa III. I swapped the sources too. The D10 does well. Very well for what it is. However, the difference the Lisa III makes is very noticeable. More sparkle and a much faster impact on the Lisa III.

Would I be happy to use the D10? Yes. It's size and battery performance are great. Would I use RS1 as portable phone? No.

With a GSP Solo SRG and Lisa III on hand, I would always go for them instead of the D10 at home.

Thanks Sceptre - the 325is isnt a portable phone either, but the application I have in mind doesnt need it to be. That said, keeping everything to a modest size is very attractive to me (the Topaz has a footprint only slightly larger than my 2009 Classic).

Well I've not had too much time to do a comparison, but between my 2nd Gen Shuffle Clip and the iPod Classic 160GB (Gen 6.5/7) the sound quality is the same to me. I used a 2nd Gen Touch for about 30 minutes one day, and I'm sure it was the bit rate/shoddy limewire downloads, but I wasn't impressed with it. Made me wonder how bad the 3rd Gen touch sounds like if I didn't like the 2nd Gen one. I'm thinking about getting a better amp and a LOD for the Classic. I love having all my music on this. I don't only have to rely on my computer. I can't wait for a 250 or 320GB Classic .

How did you find the 2009 Classic overall sound HO & LOD Wise ? I'm enjoying it every bit. Love it's sound signature. Not to mention carrying my whole discography everywhere.

Alas, my whole discography is about 215GB at the moment. You can get a 240GB drive inserted in a 5.5G iPod - Mine is being iModed at the moment.

No LOD to test it out with, and the cMoy I have doesn't have a volume control, so that will be a hefty purchase when I do make it. The headphone out with my Ety ER-6i sounds the same to me as the iPod Shuffle's (2nd Gen Clip). I love the sound sig though. Brings out the shine in my Ety's. Next I'll compare it to my Sony NWZ-A726. I love that player to death.

Well,,,I purchased a 160G and have a couple of questions that are OT for this thread.

I plan on carrying it in my pocket and in my grip (Luggage) what is a good protector or case that looks good and yet still provides protection along with out being bulky for my pocket when transporting it that way?

Is it nessary to protect this or is it durable enough naked?

I'm really looking forward to read your impressions on the new classic...I saw at the JH-13 appreciation thread that not only Pfillon but another Headfier regarded the new classic as sounding as good as the iPhone 3GS.

If you want to go the case route, I would jut look for a decent silicone case. They're cheap, and they get the job done. I don't like hard cases as a lot of the times, they'll scratch the iPod itself.

I can't say I know anything about the Wolfson DAC, but my DJ / music production audio interface (Audio 8 DJ by Native Instruments) uses a Cirrus DAC and it sounds ****ing brilliant.
