New user: Need help with amp & headphone set.

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

I am new here, and I have been reading some of the threads on amps & headphones. More specifically, I heard great feedback about the PA2V2. But I don't know if purchasing it would make my listening experience significantly better.

I am using a Creative Zen Vision M player. And I am in the process of purchasing either a Audio-Technica ES7, Denon D1001, or Grado SR60/SR80 - however, I am leaning more towards the ES7 as it seems ideal for commuting via subway, etc.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if any of those combinations are worth to try out.

Thanks guys.

I didnt find the ES7 isolated very well - they sit on your ears and not over them - and the Grado design is even worse. Dont know anything about the Denon, but might I suggest that a good pair of IEMs (no amp) is a better solution for commuting. You may be surprised by just how good they can sound, even with a lot of noise around you - few cans will give you that without excessive volume, and they tend to be heavy and awkward to pack in your satchel/whatever. Avoid buying amps until you are sure that you want to spend serious money on this hobby - most are happy with a good pair of IEMs from a decent DAP, particularly for commuting.

Ultimate ears triple.fi pros with comply tips (google it) is excellent for commuting. Can sit on a loud train and still hear the music very clearly since you get some sick isolation. -26dB aparently! Quite good headphones too. There will be some reviews around here..
