PSP GO

The updated PSP came out two days ago, and I have heard from a friend that the sound quality has been improved along with the headphone out. I have been looking around for some reviews mentioning this but no luck. I would like to hear from the Head-fiers who had a chance to try this out

i dont think that many people will buy the FO because of the stupiod decision made by sony by not letting the owners of the psp2000 have the conversion software of umd discs.anyway,i have the psp2000 and i find its SQ nice but somewhat coloured and digital to my ears(not real).i ii dont jnow if this is sony sound signature, but if it is,i wont buy any mp3s from them

I had the PSP fat before, SQ was just decent though I never used it as an mp3 player.

I considered this, but the fact that the battery life remains the same, and it's built into the PSP Go, makes it a fail for me. W/my PSP 3000 I can carry a spare, and change it out on the device when the power level gets too low.

i understand, but psp was a great pmp and if there are improvements to the sound quality up to my liking, I just may end up picking one up as its size is also small enough to carry around anywhere.

True, it's all about what's best for you. I just hope your near a wall outlet and carry a charger at all times.

is there anyone who purchased psp go willing to share their thoughts on the sound quality?

Yeah,

I'd be interested on the SQ of PSP GO! as well! Really like the design of the device, and as a PMP it's great. But I'm doubting between this and the S&L PSP3000. PSP3000 does have a bigger screen, so for watching movies it would be very nice!

I could not resist and picked one up yesterday. Honestly, the thing is real small and slick and all but I definitely noticed that it lacked clarity and mid compared to something like ipod touch 2g. It does have a decent bass. I can't compare it to my old psp 2000 because I sold it a while ago but the headphone out seems to be pretty much the same, I tried out grado sr225 on it and had to crank the volume up. I love it as a portable game machine but I will probably stick with ipod touch for my audio/video needs.

I don't think PSPs were ever good audio machines...

...but at least it can do some form of audio.

um... your point? This thread is about the psp go. It's a new hardware like the different revisions of ipods. It could have had revisions in certain parts to make it a more viable music player. Unfortunately that isn't the case in my opinion.

My point? If the PSP GO has improved SQ over it's predecessors, then it's probably very subtle. Check most of these posts, they mention general PSP SQ in some aspect or another. My statement, "that you quoted" was informing that the PSP is generally not a music machine. Coming from one myself, the SQ is nothing to write home about. I can assume that the "GO" continues Sony's trend of "not putting their first priorities in audio quality" and they don't, they won't. That isn't what their goal is.

How is it as a portable game console? How does it compare to the older psps?

But this still doesn't answer the question of if the SQ has improved or not. I'd love to know myself,...........but the battery life still sux.
