I think that is a perk of owning a beamer or a benz, you get the added bonus of douchery. how else are people suppose to justify dropping 50, 60 k on a car?

I can't help but feel a sense of superiority when I walk down the street and see some people with there classic ipod headphones and for the longest time I thought that those headphones that came with the ipod where among the best headphones I ever heard... that is until I found this forum and started to learn about colored sounding headphones vs neutral and different sound signitures, ect.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum also because the best headphones I've ever heard are the monster beats. a considerable amount of people on here would say I'm an amateur and I don't know what I am talking about (to their credit they are correct) but I like em and until I hear something better they are the best.

reading this forum I found out that head-fi'ers have a name for people like that, bassheads.I am considered a basshead. but I did learn that for certain applications like professional audio editing, mixing, DJing...ect having added bass is a bad thing. accurate reproduction of the source is most important in those cases.

i think, for me i prefer as much accuracy and as little flavour as possible... think vodka ... maybe its a nerdy egoistical thing about me that i want to hear it as close to original as possible and still make myself enjoy it... anything else in the sound , for me, is delusional, misguided, untrue...

but then again, sticking to one single audio system configuration , while going through all the music in my collection, that's usually enough to get a relative sense of the aural differences between the tracks... its not absolute 'live performance' quality, but as long as it can bring up enough detail to keep me interested, its good enough for me...

Agreed. X a ga-billion!

Do we really need to belittle those who don't spend what we (most would call it) stupidly spend in order to feel better about ourselves?

I've always been of the mind the if you need to put someone down, in whatever way, shape or form in order to feel better about yourself, you're kind of a loser.

But that's just me.

Wowza. Some people who have nice things don't feel superior. They feel fortunate. Rather than feeling superior to others, they know they aren't simply by owning or having the ability to experience things others cannot, and they feel grateful.
