Head-fi is a lot like this with sources.

Some people actually LIKE loud distorted bass and muddy music. Just like someone once told me that my Swan PC speakers sucked compared to their Bose PC speakers, the ones with the tweeter sized midwoofer and the oversized subwoofer...

Realize a lot of the population are not audio enthusiasts. Most don't know any better either. They have no concept of the range of products out there and what they are missing.

and some people honestly enjoy fast food, american cheese, and budweiser ... there's no accounting for taste

I had a music major come into my room today and she didn't even recognize any of the nice audio gear I had lying around.

The sad truth my friends. Re-educate them! Show them the path!

the problem is that you don't know how good 10 dollar burger is until you try it. you've only tasted 3 dollar burgers your whole life and that is your standard.

I recently found out that you can buy **** at the apple store and return it within 2 weeks and get a full refund. right now I have about 1000 dollars worth of headphones that I am trying out. the 40 dollar headphones don't compare to the 150 dollar headphones but I would never have known that without listening to the 150 dollar headphones.

When they can't tell difference between $5 and $500 headphones they will never find out what they are missing. Lucky to be us! (financially ruined too XD)

The thing is though.. I can appreciate a McDouble as much as a Six Dollar Burger as much as an In n Out Burger as much as a steak at Morton's.

But Skullkandy and the like are like...bland re-constituted burgers served in elementary schools. Not even a burger I suppose.

So I guess the food analogy falls a tad short. Honestly, I'm at least happy people are happy with their music. For the most part, they don't care, and I'm fine with that. If they do, then I welcome them to Head-fi!

I can understand teenagers not knowing better. Here's a truely alarming review of the SK Pro straight from skullcandys website:

I own a pair of Grado Statement Series 1000 headphones. Those retail at $1000. Those are apparently the best headphones one can own. When switching betwen the SK Pro's and the Grado's I do NOT...I repeat..o NOT distinguish an $850 difference in sound quality. The SK Pro's are the best deejay headphones one can procure. Not to mention, if you want to look good performing and Sennheiser and AKG have a similar sounding adversary...please...Skullcandy makes a deejay look slick ... with that close to Grado sound...no question here. I've been deejaying since the early nineties...just buy these. It'[s a no brainer. Thanks....Lucas A. Ortega aka Dr. Rendezvous

Sorry Grado fans!

The most important part is that people enjoy the music. Doesn't matter how cheap or how relatively poor sounding the phones are. If the phones make them appreciate music a bit more..then why not just let them live in their bliss.

When I took Music Appreciation last semester, I had to work the stereo since the professor (a professional musician) and no one else knew how.

It amazes me how people I know still use iBuds and such but think Bose is the greatest stuff ever.
