I expect that my iPod Touch could make them sound pretty ordinary, but I take your point - the ES7 are good straight from my Sony DAPs and I expect that the ESW10 would be significantly better for the price jump. A-T make some really good headphones for the money here in Oz - when you see what we pay for most things Japanese, its particularly surprising. Dont even get me started on the price of the German brands.

So, the bottom line- will the T4 improve the sound quality of the ESW10's?
I would be happy to as portable as possible by not buying an amp, but if I am going to buy a 500$ headphones, I don't want to feel only half of its quality.

YES, but if you arent used to very nice headphones you wont see a major difference.
Most heaphones that arent hard to drive sound better with an amp, adding a good amp never hurts (and the T4 is a good amp).
If I were you I'd buy the headphones now and wait for the T3 to be realesed before buying an amp. Its supposedly better than the T4.

X2, it sound very nice out of my iPhone. Probably comparable to my old Hornet. Both iPhone/iTouch have a very nice headphone out already. If you are looking to get an amp, you will need a LOD to connect it to an amp. ESW10 scale very well, so it will sound better with better amps. I will wait for a Shadow or Pico Slim. If you can't wait, both Mustang and Pico is a very noce choice.

Oh, damn, a single cable for 195$.
Is there any way to get one of these for a much lower price?
Maybe not from luxury stores like this ALO Audio?
I was sure I am going to use the cable which arrives with the amp..
If nothing arrives with it, I can buy a mini to mini, but now you are saying that it's a waste of money.
Why? :S

Edit: okay, I googled it and now I understand that LOD provides much cleaner sound.

You don't need to get it from ALO, the price of LOD range from $25 and up, depends on what kind of cable is used. There are few head-fier does DIY LOD and able to sell you one for less.

Mini to mini out means you are taking the amped headphone out to an external amp. (remember garbage in garbage out). A LOD will take the line out of iTouch (unamped) to an external amp. Some people will argue you will not notice a difference but to me when I had the ESW10, I notice a major difference between iPhone headphone out vs LOD/Mustang.

Side note, I highly recommend you just get the ESW10 and test it first. If you are satisfy, you can always get an amp later. I will be really surprise if you disappointed using ESW10 with iTouch's headphone out.

iBasso has one for like 35 bucks. And you don't need to pay for double shipping if you get one of their amps. I'd wait for the T3 after you have decided you really want an amp. It should be more transparent, and an amp that isn't kinda destroyes some of what the ESW10 is good at.

I won't be disappointed for sure, but if it possible to increase the sound quality without damaging the portability too much, why not?
Maybe I will buy the iPod Touch and the ESW10's now and then, when the T3 will be out, I will buy that+LOD.
BTW- albums which were synchronized to a computer from a disc have the best sound quality, right?
Which formats are the best?

Lossless files are the best. I prefer the one make by Lil' Knight or Qusp. PM them when you are ready.

What about the iBasso P3 Heron?
Is it much better than the T4?
It's bigger, that's sure, but I can carry it in a shoulder bag with my iPod Touch.

Hey, guys, can you please help me?
I decided to think about buying the iBasso P3 Heron/ P3+.
How big is the difference between this and the T4 (with ESW10s)?
I can wait to the T3, but I want to fulfill the potential of the ESW10s, so if the P3 is better, maybe I should invest some more in a long term amp.
I see it's pretty big, but perhaps I can carry it in a shoulder bag with my iPod Touch.
