Greatest hits albums are generally not liked by the artist fan faithful, and cover albums are worse, generally seen as abominations. I have recently purchased three cover albums that I think are worth a listen by the fan faithful, particularly because they represent different takes on the original theme.
Lisa Lauren "loves the beatles" is a folk/jazz take on some of the Beatles classic (and a couple of not so classic) tracks. Lisa is a pianst with a Jazz style delivery, a great voice and she treats the beatles songs with significant variation to establish an album that is interesting and enjoyable.
Not a bad way for Beatle fans to dip their toe into Jazz waters. Different genre with some familiarity for safety.Amazon.com: lisa lauren loves the beatles: Lisa Lauren: Music
"I'm Your Fan" Various artists delivering their interpretations of some fantastic Leonard Cohen song writing. Very different delivery to the master whispering poet's versions and again offering an almost genre bending alternative that is most enjoyable IMO, of course.Amazon.com: I'm Your Fan: The Songs of Leonard Cohen By...: Various Artists: Music
Forget the Beatles Remastered-The Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band doesn't have any forced tunnel stereo channelling, just pure reggae Sgt Peppers Lonley Hearts retakes. I gets a little high wif me friends, mann.
