What time of day do you do your most critical music listening?

This may seem like a strange question.......but assuming that most of our lives are routine based.......what time of day do you find yourself listening to music most critically (meaning not in the background like at work or driving etc.)

Maybe a poll would work well here.......I'll see what you all think

Audio equipment sounds best late at night. Less garbage on the power grid.

Of those choices, probably around 8-10. I think it's more about circadian rhythms and neurotransmitter levels than the power grid.

I find find that I'm especially alert after the bath in asses' milk. Afterwards, Shahrazad tells me stories 'til I get sleepy.

When everything is quiet and the noise of the day has faded away.

I used to listen very late at night myself, but because school started I actually haven't listened to music intently as I would have liked. I am trying to maintain a schedule of listening late at night every Friday and/or Saturday though.

I escape the office between 10pm and midnight most nights. Depending how long I'm at the bar, I'm in between midnight and 1am. I usually don't make it much past 2am, so I'll get in an album, maybe two.

I actually remember at one point thinking, "my ears are more sensitive at this time of day, I should do all my comparing at this time" at a specific time a year or two back. Wish i could remember what time of day that was.

I voted 8-10PM, but it's actually more like 6PM-10PM. My dorm hall typically gets pretty noisy later at night (~10, hm...), so it's harder to listen at lower volumes. So I listen a little earlier, an hour or two before I sleep because otherwise I wouldn't have time for critical listening.

on the mornings I don't have class, I may listen for a bit (that's the quietest time of the day, heh) but I feel my ears are better at night.
