Advanced sorting is a great feature. I've always wished you all had that on your site and am glad to see that you are adding it.

This may have been answered somewhere above, but I see that the sale goes "through" October 10. Does this mean headroom is open on the 10th (Saturday)? If not, can we then order through Monday (the next full business day)?

Thanks.

From the screenshots:

the stuff on the right looks too much like google ads, people won't pay as much attention to this.

The colors are different. I liked the cool colors of the old site, but now you are starting to add more vibrant color.

The way products are displayed looks more like a typical sales website would. I actually really liked the way products and prices were displayed on the old site much better.

I can't say much else until I actually use the new website though.

It's very sad to hear that the site is going to be giving up a little on the audiophile perspective in place of the general public. It's crazy to think a website could target all audiences at once. Make two versions. One targeting audiophiles, and one targeting the general public?

We are essentially going to be doing just that. While the "e-commerce" areas of the site will be getting lighter on words with just enough info to steer people to products that are well suited to them, we will also be beefing up content in "The Learning Center" and on the "Right Between Your Ears" blog.

This will allow people who are just looking to buy something the ability to get there without reading lots of words, and those of you who want to dig into our content will have that opportunity regularly. As I've said before, my job change will allow me to spend significantly more effort creating content.

It will take a little time to develop momentum as I begin to load-up on articles in process, but soon they'll be emerging from the pipeline regularly.

At Rocky Mountain Audiofest, people specifically sought out HeadRoom--they have been, and will continue to be, known for their audiophile headphone street cred.

As for being crazy to think a website could tareget all audiences at once: I disagree. HeadRoom ranks #1 for some very key search engine queries. Here's a big one:

headphones

The percentage of people who are searching for "headphones" on Google who are actually immediately willing to spend what we Head-Fi'ers do on headphones is probably a vanishingly small number. In other words, without catering to them (those who wouldn't spend what many of us here would), I would be willing to bet that HeadRoom's website would have a substantially higher bounce rate ("bounce" being defined by people who leave the site after viewing the landing page) than by doing things to immediately capture and keep them--like, say, selling Skullcandy or Monster, or other brands they recognize. And if they pop out of the site (a good percentage of the time by hitting the back button on their browser), they'll look at result #2, which today happens to be Skullcandy. I would rather see HeadRoom keep these people, where the information on audiophile-class headphones is all over the place, and, thus, more likely to expose and educate, than have them bounce out and go to Skullcandy's site, where the exposure to audiophile-class headphones (and content related) is just not going to happen.

Based on the big queries I'm seeing HeadRoom rank highly for, I'm guessing they may get as much or more traffic from those types of queries than for long-tail queries (the latter being where Head-Fi gets most of its search traffic from). Because of that, I see this as quite possibly a very good move.

We're having great success with the 15% discount sale at HeadRoom soooo we're extending it to now end on Monday October 12 at 5PM USA MNT Time.

As before, please remember that no Shure, Grado, B-stock items, Sennheiser HD800, or "combo packages" can qualify for the discount.

Awww... I wish this was posted just a few hours earlier so that I wouldn't have stayed up past midnight on a worknight to get my order in before the 10th. Stupid time difference.

Excited: just noticed the site is down for the upgrade!

I think while the site is down, you should redirect traffic to a proper Rick Rolling!

And there you go.

I love how you can get to any headphone with a wave of the cursor right off the home page. That's a beautiful thing!

The updated desciptions, in particular the "What we think" tab, is fantastic and builds on one of the best qualities of headroom nicely. Looking forward to those customer review tabs filling up as well.

Lookin' good boys, lookin' good!

Posting too much in this thread... sorry about that! I'll save frequency response discussion for elsewhere.
