I am hoping I did not make a mistake. Today I put a deposit on a TC Electronic Desktop Konnekt 6 at the local guitar shop. They have to get it sent in because they are out of stock. I am hoping I did not make a mistake? I want to use this like a dac/amp and play music through my laptop on it. Does anyone know it this unit will work in that direction? I know it is more meant to plug in an instrument and record to the laptop. They also had had the Konnekt 24D and firebox. I believe those do work by what I have read in these forums. I am going to use this with akg k702. I really like the look of this unit, kinda looks like something from Bang and Olufsen. It has 3 switches mic+inst, inst+inst and stereo in.

TC Electronic Desktop Konnekt 6 as dac/amp? k702
I am looking at the online manual. It says under "headphone source" an option "DAW Firewire channels 3+4. Saying " This is a function often used e.g. by DJ's. To use this setup, select this option and assign FireWire channels 3+4 (called "Phones") from your host application.
Is this what I am looking for? Thanks in advance.
When I do get the unit I will open it and see what kind amp chips it uses. If there is any quality to it I will probably mod it with better caps and resisters in the output stage. I'm sure it will be an improvement from the laptop using k702. It is rated 40 Ohm= 200mw and 600 Ohm 93mw. It comes with a 12v 2amp switching psu that probably sucks. It does say it can run on 8-30vdc. Makes me wonder how much better it would sound running on lead acid cells. Well it will be fun to play with and did not cost a fortune. I saw the Konnekt 24D in the store and the build quality is very impressive the pots feel really nice.

If you like it, it's good
so don't stress it. I have liked TC Electronic's studio gear, and if I didn't have a mac, I'd have given it a shot.
