Who uses Imod and how much of an improvement is it?

I would like to hear from people using the imod and get your thoughts on the bang for the buck....is it worth it?....does it really make as big a difference in sound as the red wine website states?
Any input would be appreciated...

You should do a search. That will give you something to read for the next few hours. Seriously.

Ill see what I can find...

lol yeah see what you can find; I think your problem will be finding too much.

Let me save you a few hours (although I urge you to research it more). I researched it and found the following (I am getting it done later, and the following is paraphrased):

-It made a nice improvement. A couple of people thought it would only be incremental, but were blown away by how big of a leap (relatively, of course) it was.
-Everything is clearer. That was one of the only things that I remember the reviewer agreeing on. Some said bass was better by a fator of x, some said treble by a factor of y, some said sound stage, but everyone agreed that it was more transparent and clearer after the mod.
-Get a Vcap dock with it to get best SQ. Otherwise, sacrifice some SQ to remain somewhat more portable.
-Get the nicest IEMs or headphones you can afford to match it
-Get the nicest amp you can afford
-It will never be a real home setup, but it will give all but the high tier a nice run for their money

Hope that paraphrasing helps,
Nkk (looking to mod his 5.5g at the end of the school year)

That paraprashing does help,thank you...
I too will be modding a 5.5 to go with my jh13 pros and a vcap dock with a shadow amp....

I compared 5.5G iMod with 120GB classic side by side with Custom 3, ALO AU/AG dock cable, ALO 22AWG Cryo dock cable, Tomahawk and Apple lossless, AAC 320Kbps. To me Classic was very close to iMod (in term of resolutions, details, bass and soundstage) with 22AWG Cryo but classic had more dynamic, powerfull sound and iMod was laidback, relax and had more silent background.

so...if you could only have one of them to listen to...which would it be?

Owned both iMod and Classic. Powered by either Move3 or MiniboxE using Image X10 or Ety4p. Cabling was ALO's SXC LOD. So over 1,000 bux in the entire iMod venture.

HUGE sonic difference. But, you gotta have decent amp, decent IEM to really notice the difference. If you aren't willing to spend the bux like that, go with the Classic, lesser IEMs, and medium-priced amp. You will tell the difference if you A/B side b side. But if you don't have that comparison, doubt you'd tell the difference without listening to both within seconds or a minute of each other

I have the JH13 pro's and was planning on using the RSA Shadow with the imod....probably just with the black gate LOD for now.
I will have to wait a while for the Vcaps

I think qusp say something abou that Shadow isn't well suited for using with V-cap dock(it was somewhere in JH13 topic).
