Recommendations for a newbie?

I'm an emerging audiophile who's looking to get some nice headphones. I've been researching into this for a while.

At the moment I'm using a pair of HD-202's which I grabbed for £15. I'm extremely happy with both the price and sound quality of these, but now I'm ready to get my first pair of really great 'phones.

I'll be using them primarily for music, though occasionally for a film or (very occasionally) for gaming. I listen to a range of music, though mainly alternative rock and not classical. I'll be using them mainly from my Macbook Pro (I'm not sure how good the sound quality is from this?) and iPod Touch, though also sometimes from my Samsung HDTV.

My price limit is about £120, though would prefer something less than £100.

Comfort is a big plus, though I won't be using them when I'm out and about. I have my excellent Shure SE210s for that.

I first started looking at the rest of the Sennheiser range, and settled on the HD555/595s, but some say that they're too relaxed for any music which isn't classical. Then I started to branch out. Here's some of my considerations - what do you guys think? Any other recommendations?
  • Sennheiser HD555/595
  • Grado SR-60i/80i
  • Audio-Technica AD500/700
  • Alessandro MS1
  • Denon AH-D1001
  • Sennheiser HD280 Pro
  • Audio-Technica M50s

I think it's clear that I'm wanting some full-sized, around-ear 'phones, but I don't particularly mind if they're open or closed. I've never used open. I'd also prefer not to use an amp I don't doubt their value, but I don't own one, and they seem pretty pricy.

Thanks!
Ultrasone HFI580s look good; I like the sound of that digital surround sound system for watching films.
SRH840s look good too and I have confidence in the Shure brand, but I'm afraid that model is a bit too expensive for me at the moment. Any thoughts on the lower model, SRH440?

At the moment I'm favouring the M50 and HFI580s.
What about the open 'phones? I'll go somewhere I can try some on at some point. They sound more comfortable and less stuffy, though sound leakage may be an issue for me sometimes.
