I know i'm a day early here (even though the album has been leaked); am looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts/reviews of the album.

I have not yet heard the album but will be buying it first thing in the morning.

Mine will be arriving tomorrow as well.

I am not trying to be negative, and I know everyone needs to be there own judge... but unfort. the early press has not been good. And I really want this album to be good.

Both Rolling Stone and Spin gave it below marginal reviews. One of the reasons I give this some weight, as a subscriber to both they NEVER agree on albums.

That is unfortunate, however-although it is just random talk, I have heard/read nothing but good things from people on a number of different music related forums.

Well mine arrived today. Guess I got lucky. I listened to it already. It's good. Not their best work ever, but pretty good. I'd give it 3 or 3.5 stars out of 5.

On the other hand, the new Zero 7 album, well that just stinks. I give it about a 1.5 out of 5. Very disappointed with that.

I like it better than Dirt. (No it's not a joke..)

Fairly painless way to find out...

Lala.com offers downloads of Alice In Chains' Black Gives Way To Blue for $2.99.
Lala - Where music plays

I believe it is only for today, if you don't have an account with Lala its pretty painless and I think their stuff is 256 non DRM, but don't quote me.

Its no DIRT, but its an excellent album, especially considering the circumstances. I dont know how they managed to find a singer that sounds enough like Layne to keep the traditional AIC formula in tact, but not too much to the point of pissing off die hard fans by coming across as second rate copy.

Im really enjoying the album.
