UM56 for Um3x : Any benefits?

Thread Starter
I have playing with various tips since i got my UM3x and still not found the right one. This week my fav tip is modified triple flange( Bi-flange). Few weeks ago it was Shure grey olives. So it got me thinking should i get um56 to close this debate. That lead few questions below

1)Is there a real benefit upgrading to UM56 ?
2)If yes , What benefit will i get with UM56.. Bass response , Nice highs etc
3)What do you prefer: Silicone vs Acrylic
4)Where do you buy this from : Westone, Earphone solutions
5) What is the price ? Does the price include cost of impression ?

Thanks in advance for your help

I upgraded from using comply tips on my UM1s and UM2s to the UM56s and it was totally worth it for me. The sound seemed a bit crisper and cleaner, but this was years ago, so I haven't compared in a while. The isolation improved greatly which I think added to the noticeable definition improvement. There was also the comfort factor. They are FAR more comfortable than disposable tips, either foam or flange.

I've lost some weight and it's been a few years, so I have to get them remade. The work, but I keep losing the seal. I just have to find time to go to an audiologist to get the impressions done.

I got mine from a Westone listed audiologist and the impressions were part of the price. I paid extra for express shipping though so the cost worked its way up there.

good luck

Jeff - what material did you end up using for your UM56s? Do you remember what the choices were?
