Looks pretty badass so far.

Finally came out on vinyl! Almost a decade later.

A much smaller but still significant purchase.

Daredevil 131

This marks (once again) the start of my comic collection. Had some as a kid, sold 'em, and am now looking forward to building a collection with my wife. Finally found something we can agree on.

Never thought it'd be comics.

Also picked up a complete Savage She Hulk set (minus 11 and 22), and a nice silver age Fantastic Four.

Wow that's an awesome purchase, how would you grade the condition of that comic. From the pic it seem to be in excellent condition, I used to be into comics for a short while, just lost interest as certain artists or writers left and was running out of room at home to store them.

Fine. To my untrained eye I'd say upper 6.x CGC. There's a little staining in the middle edges and some other small issues (pages are of course brown). The cover is excellent and the spine isn't rolled, so I'd say close to a 7.

I paid a bit more than I (personally) wanted to, but I went ahead and did it because it's one of (if not my favorite) Daredevil books and I wanted to start the collection out right again.

That's cool, I was looking at a few comics years back that had been graded and authenticated by CGC, would've love to buy them as they were top quality examples but damn were they expensive.

I'd say 6.5 or 7, depending on the back cover. The very first DD I ever read was #158, what a wonderful way to get into the title. I've been collecting for over 25 years, now.

When it comes down to grades on more 'famous' comics I honestly could care less as long as the front cover is good. With those kind of books they're going straight into a frame anyway. A well graded say...Journey Into Mystery 83 is way outta my price range...but a CGC 4? May be obtainable.

Wow, first Frank Miller DD. What a good one to start with. I'd love to own 158, 168, 181, and 191. Oh, and of course a #1.

The cover of DD 158 just leaped out at me (pun intended) and I had to get it, then I kept buying them each month. I still have it, though it's pretty rough (I wasn't a collector at the time, just a reader) so I didn't handle it with any care. It's probably around a 3.5-4, but I love it anyway and have it put away with the others. Much later I tracked down a CGC 9.8 for my collection, but it doesn't have the same value to me as that original.

Damn a 9.8? Doesn't get any better than that.

I'm slowly building another list of stuff I want to find. Right now the 3 I really want are Giant Size X Men 1, Amazing Spider Man 300, and Hulk 181. Oh, and Batman Adventures 12, but that's gonna be a lot easier to find in good shape since it's from '93.

Are you a display kind of guy or do you pretty much keep in boxes in the basement (so to speak)?
