I spent 4 hours yesterday making it a Google Edition HTC One. Now I REALLY love it. biggrin.gif

I was torn between the One and the GS4. Ended up going with the GS4 but there's still some slight regret there.

Is it the ROM that gets OTA updates?

Don't be.  Even though I said good choice initially I own an S4 not an HTC.  Both are awesome phones.  Removable storage + battery = win :)

Shame about the Beatsaudio :( I would get one if it didn't have that, because I use a portable setup quite a lot. That's something I love about my iPhone 3GS. 32Gbs of storage, and a line out to my amp.

Yeah, basically I transformed my One from a AT&T carrier-locked phone to a unlocked Google Edition phone.

That shouldn't hold you back from such a great phone, you can disable it at any time. Even the Beats Audio logo at the rear of the phone is removable. biggrin.gif

I haven't tried it yet with IEMs, but it does make the external speakers sound much better.

Can you provide a link to the process? I'd love to get the GE experience. Another question. Did the ROM come with the GE boot animation too?

It can be a little tricky. I spent an hour unlucking the RUU. It just wouldn't work for some reason. Same thing for turning S-OFF.

Once you've done that though, it should be pretty straight forward.

PS: There's a tool that contains all of the command lines needed for the main things, so you don't need to retype every command constantly. I can't find it right now, but if you google a bit you'll find it. Some people call it the the "fool proof method". It only works on Windows though.
