Recently built a new desktop computer:
specs (Click to show)
mobo: asrock z77 extreme4
cpu: i7 3770k
PSU: Corsair CX600V2
gpu: Gigabyte HD6850 OC 1GB
Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 212+
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 1600 8GB
Case: Cooler Master HAF912+200mm top fan
Disc Drives: 2 dvd/cd combo's
HDs: 120GB SSD and 1TB HD

Also bought the Asus Essence STX, hoping to get a convenient all-in-one upgrade.

As it stands the CX600V2's +12 volt 40A output isn't sufficient for it, given the requirements of the other components in my pc.
I was quite confused when it sounded as bad as it did. Not sure whether I'm going to rma it or upgrade my psu.
Edit: Got it working and its a keeper
