Under 200$, for electronic, closed, come and help me :) - Page 2

Any thoughts on the ESW9s vs the M50s?

Or at least how the M50s may compare to the ATH-A900s?
I'm going through a similar decision, and want to replace my A900s as they are a bit on the large side for outside the office use.

The price on the M50s as opposed to the ESW9s are very appealing.
How do the M50s stack up comfort wise?

Thanks!

Dave

Really? The highest price in the US seems to be $200 and the lowest $130. Where are you located?

great bass and great for electronic based music

\another good option is ultrasone hfi 580 which is brighter and more detailed

I was just thinking that, but that's assuming the OP can find a store where they're still in stock.

I really like my ES7 with almost everything I listen through them. I am not that impressed with DT770 ( stock&modded ), however was long time ago I tried them. Not sure about the rest.

I'll swing in the HFI-680 here. Very nice closed headphones. Wish I could audition a HFI-780 to compare it though...

Listening to a house mix that my DJ buddy put together for a podcast on my Shure SRH840's. I think they are perfect for electronic music. Great bass that isn't overwhelming and a nice crispness up top. Very good isolation as well. Love these phones. You never know when a NIB shows up in the FS forum

Ultrasone HFI-780 go great with electronic music, especially if you need punchy and well defined bass. As for the ATH-ESW9 (which I have), they simply don't output the kind of bass electronic music asks for and have a midrangey tendency which doesn't fit genres in that category, IMO.

I prefer my SRH840 (if amped) or 440 (if unamped) for electronic. To be honest for $75 shipped the 440 kill anything else in that price range for electronic. But the best all around in the $200 and under range IMO is the ATH-M50.

My ATH-M50 are modified to change the comfort level and it does change the sound signature, however, I found the ultrasones to be too bright and didn't like them.

Downside to the M50 is I had to modify them heavily to make them fit my head--had to mod the headband with extra padding and pack the earpads to make them sit properly on my head. Not likely that you'll have the same problem, but that's my only complaint about them.

Hey,
Still haven't found a shop where I can compare them.
I think I'll get ATH-M50 or Ultrasones DJ1Pro/780.
I found a place where I can listen to Ultrasones 750, could someone tell me how do they compare to 780/DJ1Pro?
And maybe someone knows more popular model of Audio Technicas similar to m50?
