Teclast T51 - Page 13

The firmware is still "buggy" and the UI sucks. I own the T50 and it's not bad but $170 is way too much for a Chinese DAP that will prolly not have many firmware updates to correct its shortcomings.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I'm sorry, I don't get this. Isn't the Nationite S;Flo2 uses the same components as the Teclast T51??

It's only $129.50 for the 8GB, that is the cheapest i have seen it for so far, $170 is for the 16GB.

Yes, they both get the player from the same OEM...just like you could if you wanted to buy, say, 1,000 of them

But what are the diffrences between the two?

There was a negotiation for better batery life and other things, but with no real outcome.

There are no diffrences, except maybe of the name and the logo on the back.

The T51 sure looks really nice on paper, but specs don't mean performance. Bugatti Veyron has 1001hp on paper, on a track it loses to some Jap cars.
And that's what they call "5 cores"? Do they mean 2xWM8740+OPA2604+TDA1308+Rockchip whatever? That's called 5 chips, not cores!
More so, using one WM for each channel reduces interference, but the PCB design really comes into this. Everyone who's learned about solenoids know that electrons running through a conductor produces some EMI. Now, if these two WM chips are mounted too close to each other without a GND in the middle, interference will FUBAR the sound, really.
The OPA, according to its official datasheet, needs way more voltage than the LI-Ion cell can provide. This specific OPA demands some 6+ volts to function correctly, while generally, a Li-Ion cell can only provide 3.9V. A DC converter should be already installed, however this causes noise to. The 8 "CBB polyurethane caps" are supposed to absorb some noise, but doesn't this all comes back to the Monster's "Clean Power" lie?
This device may sound good, heck, better than a Pod device. But for an "extreme quality Hi-Fi MP4" as the Chinese advertise it? I don't think so. Plus with the bugs of the Firmware, the laggyness of the touch, the ugly-looking fonts...how does Teclast want to compete on the market?

Simple... ... put SPDIF out, and problem solved and they can keep the 'audiophile' label to. Let us picked our own DAC and AMP.

I really hope, someday, a cheap PMP/DAP with spdif out will rises.

TQ.

So you guys think the S:flo won't worth the risk?
I guess we really gotta wait until someone who actually listens to the player with decent IEMs for a review. Man this is really confusing on paper and headfi.
I have decent IEMs -> IE8s

Listening to many diffrent DAPs without amp:

-Cowon D2+(praised by head-fi members)
-Ipod Video 5G
-Ipod Classic 6G
-Sansa Fuze (same sq like Clip)
-Ainol V3000(Cirrus Logic CODEC)
-Archos 605
-and Teclast T51

What I can say here is that this player is ways better than those listed in terms of SQ. Highs are beautiful, mids are smooth the lows are good. Clarita and detail are really good for such a cheap player.

It even surpasses my laptop. Only at one poit the D2+ is better, that is bass. The lows are good but for me they lack a little power.
The LO can provide even better SQ. I put it in my Cmoy and it was even better.

I think the firmware will be good. I am optimistic.

This is great news! Finally the S:flo2 is scheduled for shipping. One thing though, it says "S:flo2 (Teclast T51)" on the website. Does this mean that the S:flo2 is exactly the same as the T51? I thought there were plans to make improved modifications to the T51 and naming it S:flo2.

It's the same player, just a different name on the back and a modified start-up and shut-down screen, no HW difference.

They tried to get things changed like higher resolution display and bigger battery but it didn't happen.

it may be the 1.1 firmware but i think it will be updated by early december, the hw is final afaik
