Sometimes I get fed up trying to sort through dozens of reissues of a specific album. I love being able to locate the best sounding CD reissue of a great album. I thought it would be very helpful to me and others if there was a thread on head-fi which consolidated various opinions of any member who wishes to participate by giving allowing someone who has heard various reissues of numerous albums to share their opinion with what they think is the best CD reissue. If you have only heard the vinyl against the CD that is just as good if you can verify that the CD is nearly as good as the vinyl.
I own 3 CD issues of Yes's Fragile.....
The original Atlantic CD back from the early 90s, the remaster which is currently in circulation and the MFSL CD. I have spent many years with each one, and I think the MFSL is the warmest and least sibilant, something which the current remaster suffers from. I have also heard the vinyl original pressing and I think the MFSL stands up well.
So my first addition to this thread will be:
YES: Fragile - MFSL (Best reissue I've heard out of 3 +1 vinyl)
Here is a link to the CD Amazon.com: Fragile: Yes: Music
Please keep this thread going as I think it will be a helpful way to find great sounding CDs.........
