Will Woo Audiuo WA2 handle AKG 701?

Some posts here say they combo works fine. Some say not a good match... I have a WA2 and am debating a pair of 701 to complement my HD 650.

If you're using WA2 and 701, would yoi mind posting your thoughts?

OK!I pair my K702 with Wa2 with original Tube
I found the sound is lax and a little slow.(I think this is stereotype of wooaudio sound?)
So I order some very excellent tubes from tubeworld
I will try these tube ....Maybe it can transfer K702 to more emotional....

I'm hoping that the warmth of the Woo and the alleged brightness of the 701's will mellow each other out. I love the warmth of the 650 & WA2 combo, but am looking for a brighter sounding pair of cans to use with recordings that are naturally on the warm and extra bassy side.

Its going to be tough to make the K702 sound emotional.

With musical sounding upstream components, it is possible make the 701s sing.

Comparing W5000 and AKG701 I don't think the sound is slow. Tested on my all times test speed record ie. Divox Antiqua - Le quattro Stagioni Carmignola part 1 Winter. They are not as emotionally involving as W5000 but cannot call them slow.
Also I do not think WA2 is slow sounding amp, warm yes but this also can be adjusted with tubes. Currently I'm running TungSol 5998/EZ80 Valvo Hamburg factory/E88CC Valvo Red Label D getter concave.
Right now Leonard Cohen from O2 arena is just mesmerizing -"if it be your will"

K701s aren't particularly bright. You've already read what other people think; just try them out for yourself. Although I'd rather just buy a better source or amp than spend money on "complementary" headphones. Especially since it looks like you're just rocking a Squeezebox DAC. That's just straight up cart before horse imo.

Definitely, I should try every type 6AS7 family tubes
By tubeworld, I know Mu, Gm, Rplate , Vplate of 5998, 7236, 6080, 6AS7.....
But I am curious about original sound that Jack think.....

Well.... I have this combo as well as a HD650... and I can't say the K701 is a good match with the WA2... very thin bass (but great depth), annoying treble and upper mid, recessed vocal. I was aware of the K701 sound sig and made the bet the warmth of the WA2 would compensate but it's not enough.
No... sorry but I can't recommend this can for this amp. Hence, I'll probably sell mine.

Wa2 slow.... I'll tend to agree but hey... it's not an SS amp !

Jack "strongly" recommended the 6se over the W2 for my k701 cans, FWIW.

Got a brand new pair of 701's yesterday... They sound pretty lame out of the WA2, hopefully some break in will help things out.

WA2 amp requires high impedance cans from my research, that's the story and there is no way around it. What' the impedance of the 701 headphones? I'm anxiously waiting to receive my WA2 so I can finally power my Senn HD600 properly. Other than Senn, with WA2 I will be limited to Beyerdynamic headphones and similar high impedance phones - and I'm fine with it. For some reason I decided to go with WA2 over WA6SE. :) I'll see if I made the right decision once I get it, though I have nothing to compare it vs the headphone amps in the CD player and in my pre.

Having owned a WA2 and several Grados, RS-1, 325i, HF-1 and HF-2,  I have to disagree with your statement.

701/OTL with enough juice sounds great. Budget OTL, not so much.
