Hard Disk Not Coping

Thread Starter
I have an XP desktop with Foobar and MM as the music server . Surpringly music often stop for 2-3 seconds before resuming. Sometimes longer. While the music stopped, I can see the disk LED coming on.

I really don't understand what could have caused disk bottleneck. There is no other program running beside Foobar or MM. 2G of RAM should be plenty without need for paging.

Any idea?

Cheers.

Run Process Manager, see if there's anything taking up CPU/accessing the disk when the music pauses. That should give you a clue as to what may be causing all the trouble.

Check latency

Vista has a panel about cpu,hdd and ram, easy to find out the problem, but XP hasn't. u can just open task manager and see what process runs higher at that time.
