Easiest way to avoid upgradetis is once you get a nice sounding system dont read these forums again. They just drive you crazy like free samples of truffles in the chocolate store while you are standing in line hungry. You arent leaving without buying more than you expected too.

It is all about a fine balance between music and gear.
Without a certain quality on all of it you will (may) not be able to enjoy music at high level.

One way to cope with upgraditis is to jump straight to the top, skipping all those intermediate mid-level systems...

But then you start looking for "cheap stuff" which works just fine albeit at a lower cost. Is there an end to it at all? Just take a look at skylab

I meant this thread to cater to new members who start rushing things. I guess that point was lost somehow. Getting into better equipment later is important, as other posters have pointed out.

I went directly from iPod->SR80 to SRM-007t->SR-007BL. It pretty much cured upgraditis, but not the hunt for different sound signatures.
