Sansa Fuze Vol Setting/Function

I have noticed that on the Sansa Fuze in the settings menu, there is some setting/adjustment to make to Vol to either Normal or Loud/High.

I have tried to adjust/play with this setting and not having any luck, simply I dont see any difference.

Any suggestions ?

'Normal' in full volume is about 70 ~ 75% of High. Basically it is a volume limiter to comply with EU regulation. The basic volume is till the same, just that you can't go pass 70~75% max when your fuze is on 'normal' (meaning only the top 30% volume setting is affected, which I assume you probably not on such high a volume with regular headphone). If you somehow max out on the volume on 'high', then switch to 'normal', you'll notice the volume drop in your headphone.

Thanks for your reply. I do find though that the Vol output level of the Fuze to be slightly weak and not sure is it to do with the design etc. Also I think re this EU Vol limiter thing, Ipods also had the same thing.

Re the Vol level output, lets say for eg if i turn my Creative ZVM to Vol level 15, its louder than that of the Fuze on Level Vol 15, i dont know but probably the ZVM has a more powerful amp built in.

Yeah, the High setting just takes out the volume limiter and lets you turn up the volume a little more. Compared to other mp3 players the Fuze doesn't get as loud, but it gives plenty of volume for all of my headphones (although my headphones are all easily driven).

mmm...good to know. I didn't know that before. I still use 'normal' nonetheless and never get beyond 3/4 ever . It's usually at halfway. Mt FX-500's are rated at 55 ohm but are tbh, quite easy to drive regardless.
