Hell Freezes Over - XRCD2 vs. Redbook?

This album has been known for its recording quality, and long been a standard demo CD at audiophile shows. Does anyone have the XRCD2 version, and compared it to the standard Redbook?

Also wondering about the DTS 5.1 version, and the DVD-V versions. Anyone hear them?

I have both the XRCD2 and the Redbook.

The XRCD2 sounds better than the redbook to me, my favorite ,however, is the simply vinyl version.

I have heard only the DVD and the Redbook. They both sound good. However, if experience has taught me anything, I would say the XRCD2 is probably a tad better.

It's my undestanding that the DVD has DTS 5.1, DVD 5.1, and PCM versions included. I'm assuming the PCM is the same version as on the standard Redbook disc.

Does the XRCD2 have different mastering?

Both the Redbook and XRCD2 credit - Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound, NYC.

The XRCD2 shows the mastering process as starting with the original analog master

I have both, and the XRCD2 is better but not markly better like a DSD recording vs. redbook. The DVD version of it also sounds very good as well.

Can you put into words exactly what is "better" that you are hearing?
