Looking at these photos, the new clear AI-M6 seems to have the same wire and angled plug that you descibe in the R1. Do you have a new AI-M6 to compare it with, or do you only have your old one?

Yes, you are right. The new M6 seems to have the same plug and cable, but in a different color. I only have the old M6 and it has the same plug as the M9 shown in that pic.

I'll post some more brief impressions of the M11 now that I had the time to listen for a bit.

It seems like they sound better from a shallow insertion, which increases the soundstage, without affecting the sound adversely in other ways. I don't notice a significant change in isolation from shallow vs deep insertion. What it does do, however, is make them even more comfortable. Incidentally, I should note that I have tried the klipsch S4 for a couple of weeks and own the PL50. Both are known as extremely comfortable IEMs, but the M11 actually surpass both in terms of comfort. This was a very pleasant surprise when I first put them on, and is a very significant plus in my book.

Also, they seem to be either a) less efficient than my other IEMs or b) simply sound better at louder volumes. On my sansa clip, my music is normalized to 89db. With the pl50 I would normally listen to it at 1 (minimum volume). At most, I would hit 2 or 3 if it was very loud around me. With the M11...I'm listening at 8-10...and that's at home where it is quiet.

They are definitely warmer than the M11 and seem to have more bass at this time. Out of the box I can only say that they need some burn-in .

Basically, it's exactly as good-looking as it appears in the photos. As for the sound, time will tell.
oh yeah the cables look stunning on these things, the whole meelectronics range are easily the prettiest cables ever

So, what is the update on the R1 review? Man that is an interesting plug shape on the M11, its kind of an L shape that wasn't fully bent.

ClieOS and mark have both posted R1 reviews recently. I've decided that I won't follow suit with a full review but rather let the R1 be one of the first phones in my own review thread. Hoping to post by the end of the week.

Was it posted in this thread cause maybe I skipped it? Thanks.

Nope, posted separately

Mark's review

Tai's review

Allow me to add that I like the M11 much more than the R1 personally and that I still consider the Ai-M6 the best-sounding of the range.

Well something about the Wood on the R1 make it looks classy and cool.

I just picked up a pair of M11s. What's the proper way to burn them in?

Thanks?

Anyone happen to have a set of M11's and Sansa Fuze nearby? Was hoping to get some opinion on the EQ setting I'm using. I know these aren't the king of sound quality but I love the M11 isolation for commuting.
