Clean source under $150 used.

I will soon be traveling out of country and I need a clean & transparent portable source that can drive Audio-Technica M50's without an AMP. It also should have a solid battery life (think 8 hour flight). I would like to hold at least 30GB of music, but if that's stretching it with my budget, I'm willing to listen to suggestions with lower music capacity. Most importantly, I would like to attain it for under $150 used. Not $160 or $170, but $150.

Any recommendations? Much appreciated! Thanks.

PS: I've just been thinking about just getting an used iPod 5G 30GB or Creative Zen Vision:M 30GB, what are your guys' opinion on it's quality with driving full-sized cans?

Maybe used AMP3 + a large microsd (16gb for $40)?

May I suggest Sansa Clip Pluse 8gb and a 16gb card, total 24gb. Battery life should be more than 10 hours (You will not get normal 13-15 hours, because external card will use a bit more power.) Yes, it will drive your M50 just fine. By the way, the total cost will be $70 + $45~$70 < $150.

Amazon.com: Clip Plus 8 GB MP3 Player (Black): Electronics

Newegg.com - 16GB Micro SDHC

I would second the proposal for buying an AMP3, a wonderful little player and 100hours on the battery, a must for someone travelling!!

hmm what about the software issues?? have they sorted that out with AMP 3 yet?? if so then yes ampless it should beat at least the ipod video. the HP out on the video is not what i would call clean. with an amp and modded, well thats another story
