Generally, I find the LRT/MRT relatively safe as long as you make yourself aware with the stuff you are carrying. I use my ipod + mini^3 as source when commuting but I keep them inside my bag. I also keep my phone inside my pockets.

I think its better to be just discrete when walking around the crowded areas.

When are you planning your trip?

Also you might want to visit our local forums at HeadPhiles - Index , a lot more local guys can answer some of your travel questions there

Thanks again for your help everyone, it's much appreciated.

The trip won't be until April/May 2010 at the earliest. Moreover, I might try to plan my trip around a concert I want to see, if and when they come up. You guys seem to get some wonderful picks for live shows! hopefully I can buy tickets online and use a passport as ID to pick them up? :P So I've got a lot of planning/research ahead of me still...
