Theoretically possible should definitely be confidence inspiring - it means you should be able to do it - so do it, and post a "yes, this works" so Joneeboi updates his site.

haha the part thats not confidence inspiring is because the method on his site isnt the same as the method that the asian guy did, although on the 2nd part they solerdering to the same traces

also...removing caps is that neccesary? will i still get audio from the headphone out if i remove them?
aaarrrggghhh how many times do we have to say the HP out is only destroyed in the ipod 4G Imod???, because with that they use the HP out for the Line out; at least RWA do, even this is not necessary if you use the Dock Line out just as in the 5g mod.

in short, no you do not HAVE to remove the caps, there will be a tiny amount of signal that still flows through the caps if you leave them on the board, but the vast majority of signal will pass through the wires you solder in. it depends on how confident you feel. I recommend leaving the caps in for this because its your first mod and its untravelled ground. then if you like later once you know you have it right you can remove them.

oh actually i have a huge plan, to be number one, it involves tackling little jobs first and working my way up the ladder...kinda like GTA but with soldering =D
yeh the diymod isn't something im going to do straight away, i just like to research and plan out.

Tried to do this 15 mins ago, prying it open was hard. and now my ipod looks like it's been pryed open.
Soldering onto the caps was even harder because my soldering iron's tip is huge and cant get safely onto the cap without touching the cap beside it.
In short. failed attempt at a diymod.
but at least my nano still works ^_^ (just lost a bit of it's flawless beaty in the process)
I used a small flat head screwedriver to get in there - what does everyone else use??
