I don't think we would actually have to turn anybody away and you're right we'll just roll with it. I just didn't want to give a blanket "you're in" on the off chances I'm not on Head-Fi for a few days and 20 more people say they're coming.

Good points though Steve.

And serves me as a reminder to set up a rough schedule:

10:00 - Setup. If you are bringing a lot of gear be sure to get there as close to 10 as possible. If you're bringing a DAC for the shoot out you should also get there early so we can figure out the best way to set that up.

11:00 - "Official" start time

11:30 - 12:30 - Quiet Hour I. Everyone tries to be as quiet as possible. Talk like you're in the library and spend more time listening than talking. During these times, it will not be considered bad manners to shush your neighbor.

12:30 - 2:30 - Lunch, socializing, and gregarious listening

2:30 - 3:30 - Quiet Hour II

3:30 - 4:00 - [Almost] Silent Auction

4:00 -5:00 - Final listening sessions and impressions

5:00 - 6:00 - Breakdown

Followed by dinner for those who are interested, at a restaurant as yet to be determined.

The diner is fine. Nobody said anything so I wasn't sure if that's what people wanted. The diner it is!

question :
those vendors gonna have some of their products for sale right?
i'm mainly going because i wanna buy something off them(save on shipping if i could).
might also want to try some before i buy.
Most of them dont bring things to sell. If you're interested, you can always contact the vendors before hand and ask them to bring something

Most of the products that the vendors that are attending make are made to order. This means that it generally takes from a couple of days (For Cable products) to several weeks or more (For the more sophisticated Amplifiers) for the products to ship. This is one reason that vendors don't bring inventory. The other is that it's difficult enough lugging everything to a meet without having to lug inventory for the exceedingly rare purchase.

If someone were really hot under the collar to purchase an amp the vendor might part with their demo (It saves them from having to carry the demo home), but I wouldn't be expecting a big demo discount. The vendor has to build a replacement demo so in essence they would have given a discount on a new amp anyway (At least that's what they had to build to replace the sold demo).

Vendors like to attend to give attendees a chance to hear their products. Hopefully attendees will spread the word as to how good the products are and some might even purchase some. It's basically advertising. Hey we should charge the vendors for attending! Wait.... The vendors do donate very generously for the Auctions and give cash to-wards the room. Without the vendors generosity many meets would have come up short raising money for the rooms.

I for one am glad that the meets are not run as swap meets, but instead run as somewhere that hobbyist can share their enthusiasm (and their equipment) with other hobbyists.

I am 80% in for dinner. Got a birthday party that evening, but this might be a great excuse not to go
