Have you heard me?

The cure could be much worse than the ailment

I'm no shrinking violet

If someone wants me to bring my Music Hall DAC 25.2 ($600) for the cheap DAC battle royal I certainly can.

I'm on a budget, and have scraped together whatever I could beg, borrow, or buy off ebay. The group has been of great benefit, and great fun, but I can't take the full commitment of time & treasure that this hobby seems to require. I'd love to rub shoulders, but I'm afraid I'll come across as a complete want-to-be. If the opinion is that this meeting is too advanced for me, I'll accept that without any hard feelings.
Thanks in advance.
This concern makes no sense to me...............

Do not in any way be intimidated by the gear. It's the people who own it you need to watch out for.

Seriously, you are welcome and encouraged to attend. You can bring your rig or choose to leave it home. People bring their setups to these meets to share them, not to make anyone feel bad or excluded. It's a great opportunity to hear stuff you otherwise would never get a chance to try. Bottom line: Meets are about having fun, listening to gear, and actually getting to meet members of the community in person.

If I can make a gear request, can someone bring the Shure 840 phones? I want to compare to the esw9

Also, I'll be bringing my minimal rig. Netbook/Bantam Cable Dac/XP Portable/Grado HF2s/im716/re-252

I can try to bring my 840s. they are on loan (to my dad!) and if they aren't back by then then no dice...but I will try to recover them.

Gear list updated.
I'm sure I missed some of those DACs, especially since a bunch are maybes.

The Salted one is waffling.

Good idea. We'll give it a try.

if the meet is a full house, space could be an issue and we should make sure that people do not bring in excess.
I'm going to try and get over to the hall next week and get some kind of table configuration. I'll do my best to allocate space. We have a few more attendees than last year but if you recall one vendor took up about 24 feet of table space. If we could fit 2 to 3 rigs per table. I think we'll be OK. Plus that includes some maybes and some people just never show up.

There are no gear or knowledge quotient requirements for attendance. Just bring a good attitude, be respectful of other members and their gear and you'll be fine.

There's also the option to bring a cheap rack to the meet to save space. Lakk side tabes from Ikea make a neat shelf for $8 and you can cut the legs and stack them if you really want to be creative. Or for about $50 in material and a little time just about anyone can throw together a flexy rack. Aaron made fun of the one that I brought last time so I stained it for him so that it's more aesthetically pleasing for this go around.

I had you listed as "maybe". Did I get that wrong? Are you a definite now?
