A few questions about the Clip+ - Page 2

i haven't noticed any hiss with the clip+ through a few different headphones. i don't think best buy sells the 8gig version, at least not right now, but u can walk into any best buy and they sell the clip+. at my best buy it wasn't on display so you have to ask for it. i think the best bet to get an 8gig is to order it online and it only comes in black.

Just figured out a new reason to get the Clip+. OGG Vorbis!

Went to Best Buy and bought a black 4GB. Man, this thing is tiny. I'm still trying to put music on it, so I'll post impressions on it later.

Oh, is it safe to charge it with a Motorola phone charger? It uses the same USB mini B (or whatever it's called) end, and it seems to work fine with my Fiio Walkbox. Pretty sure it's safe, but I thought I'd ask in case someone else tried a similar experiment with catastrophic results.

EDIT: Gapless doesn't work as well as I thought it would. It worked great with Black Sabbath's Live At Hammersmith Odeon (OGG), but didn't work with The Dark/Zero The Hero from Born Again (OGG). Seems to only partly work with Dark Side Of The Moon (FLAC). Gapless on the Clip+ is still better than it is with the Zune 120. Still worth $50 though. Sounds pretty good, but the soundstage seems slightly narrower than my iPod and Zune. Also, it actually sounds better through the headphone out than amped with my Cmoy.

The Clip+ pairs up nicely with my RE0's. I can fit both of them in one Altioids tin, and it will be a much more portable rig than my iPod+LOD+Cmoy+RE0's. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

another happy owner of Clip+ here. this is my real MP3 player in the past 3 years. it sound great and full, no hiss even at full volume (7 times louder than my listening value) using UM3X or PFE. it has the juice to push UM3X and PFE fine. the recorder is really nice for recording lecture. love the microSDHC capability and super small size. transfer of data is super easy. the only complaint is short battery life but for this size it is fine since my cell phone is also decent PMP (Nokia 5800XM). just don't use Clip before I done my lecture recording.

Does anyone know of a right angle adaptor for standard headphone jacks/plugs? My RE0's plug sticks straight out, and I don't want to risk breaking it. I did some searching, but I couldn't find anything. Or should I just get an extension cable with a right angle plug?

EDIT: I found one on Radioshack's website, but it's not gold plated. I'd prefer something that's gold plated.

A few more questions

I'd like to go from the clip to an integrated stereo amplifier. I understand that I can run a cable from the headphone out to a stereo RCA in my integrated, but could I make it work form the mini USB, out to a USB DAC, and then to my integrated? This way I would use a better USB DAC with a true line out...

I'd also like to go from the clip to my AV receiver. There is an iPod input on my Yamaha HTR-5960 receiver. Is there some kind a adapter going from mini USB to an iPod connector? If so, have you already tried it?

Thanks,

You mean a Clip/Clip+ LOD? No such thing exists yet as far as I know. The headphone out is pretty dang good as it is.

Anyone here own both the original Clip and the Plus? Is clarity improved markedly compared to the original? My Clip sounds a bit muffled when compared to my other players.

If there's a marked improvement, then the Plus will definitely be mine.

Have both, the Clip+ is a bit warmer, and I like the change, though neither of my Clips sound muffled. Didn't your UM3X sound muffled and the Amp3 grainy? Why not just use the Sony X as your DAP? I'd say don't get a Clip+ if the Clip sounds muffled.
