Sleek Audio SA6's - Page 2

Things like these are always learning experiences for a company. I do have to commend them for making the effort to build such a IEM in the first place. It's just that users become beta testers which can leave a bad taste in people's mouths if they aren't expecting to put up good money for essentially a beta product. I'm glad to hear v2 is holding up well.

shigzeo, how would you compare the sound of the SA6 to the ER4S or the PFE of both of which I've run? I've always kind of wondered if the SA6 can be a better version of either of those both in tuning and end sound.

well, i like all three of those earphones quite a bit. the sa6, is a love and hate simply for fit reasons (with my ears) as is the er4s. the er4s is much more emphasised for treble (way too much so) and can sound tinny on tracks that should be warm and cuddly. the sa6, however, can be too aggressive sometimes in the mid range, but i would choose that signature of the er4s which is to me, fatiguing.

the pfe are probably a closer match to the er4s in terms pat presentation, but are not maybe as fatiguing. however, i prefer the bass on the er4s. amped properly, the pfe can be very good in bass, but there is an element of its cheaper plastic housing which gets in the way of the sound.

it is personal, but merely for sound, i prefer the sa6 over the two, then the er4s and finally, the pfe. but please read this as imho. they are all very good. the sa6 and pfe share a similar cable by the way, so if your pfe crystalised, your sa6 may also. it is made a little better, but not much.

A shame that my opinion was actually not exaggerated in the slightest then. When something detracts from the music that darn much, there's a problem with it. The boomy, bloated mids were something in both the Vibes and SA6, and the super.fi 5 Pro sounded like the iBuds with more bass and recessed, hollow mids.

I would take the iBuds or KSC75 any day over those three; at least they don't have something that sticks out a mile long that annoys you away from enjoying the music.

If you want bass, clarity and a wide soundstage for rap, the IE8 is what you want. You can get a used pair for the amount of money that you're looking to spend.
