Recommend some buds w/ good bass, $100-200 range

Hello!

I currently have UE's SuperFi 5vi's and I find them lacking in bass for my style of music and I'm looking to find a pair that may suit me a bit better. I'm looking in the $100-200 range, that has great bass and good overall sound of course, mic and remote never hurt but i don't care either way.

It should be noted that I get 50% off any shure headphone, so I would imagine those should be heavily considered? I primarily listen to rock, heavy rock/metal and hip hop/rap. I'd appreciate any recommendations!

thanks!

Depends on what you mean by buds. Typically earphones fall into two categories:
IEM - in ear monitors, things that actually get inserted into your ears like your Super.fis
Buds - as in earbuds, hang in ear type phones.

For earbuds, Yuin PK1 will be the main one you'll be looking at.

For IEMs the JVC FX500 has sort of become the king of the hill in terms of bass. I'm not personally familiar with it, but there are enough user comments for you to get a good idea about them. An older bass king is the Future Sonic Atrio M5 which is within your price range.

50% off of Shures is massive if you start looking at their top end stuff. You might as well buy their SE530 then and be done with it. If you really can get them 50% off, it'll fall within your budget. Grab a few more if you can too. I'm sure a rather large crowd of folks around hear would love to get a set so cheap.

he said he listens to metal and thus the fx500 will be a terrible choice

Why are these good for rock/metal and hip hop/rap?

Also what does it mean to be an "open" IEM?

Why do you say this?

@ the OP. I have listened to a good many Shure earphones, and while they aren't my taste, they do sound warmer than the Ultimate Ears. 50% off is great, but only if you actually like them. You have to define what you are looking for in bass, do you like tight punchy bass, do you like powerful boomy bass, do you like fast bass, exct.

Yeah, the problem is I can only get that deal by mail order.. so unfortunately it would be a bit difficult to try and return if I didn't like them.

I'd say powerful boomy bass, I have the big dre headphones and I like those but obviously I'm not gonna lug them around everywhere.

I appreciate all the input so far, thanks!

edit - looking for the IEM's, thanks for clearing that up.

Then the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 EBs might have been a better match. Also the Monster Turbines are supposed to produce a lot of bass. The Atrio M5 and the Victor HP-FX500 are supposed to be the basshead's best friend, it depends on HOW much more you need.
