RedWine Audi iMod (4G) vs Current iPod/ iPod Touch

I have been away from this community for sometime and perhaps the longtime users who are still here can answer this question:

I have 20 GB (4th Generation) iPod and am considering doing the Red Wine Audio iMod on this unit -or- purchasing a new iPod or iPod Touch. However Im curious if it still makes sense to modify and partially disable features of the older unit if the current devises are comparable or even surpass the sound quality mark of the iMod. Thoughts?

I also faced the same questions as you. Hifiman is released now, and the comments seem are positive. I leand to order one, but price is increased and the shipping time is long.
I have a lot of search and reading, finally I preorder the AMP3 pro2, which will be released soon. From the comments of AMP3 pro1 I suppose it should be better than Imod. But not sure, For I still didn't get it. but at least the price is better than Imod ( $159) LOL.

I've owned an imod and a diymod. I now own a touch 4g. Touch sound quality I very good. Imod and diymod sq is excellent. SQ and other features combined made the touch my choice.

If you go imod, I would search eBay for high end refurbished 5.5G iPod. New. Battery, bigger capacity, 5.5G hardriives are still reasonable cost, an hp out still works.
