We have decided to make the meet at Embassy Suites Orlando North located in Altamonte Springs, Florida. It is a more cost effective solution to bring us all together.

1 KING EXECUTIVE SUITE (conjoined: 1 conference room, 1 bedroom, see pics below) holds roughly 10 people. Price ranges from $118 to $139 + taxes for one night. The $118 price is with an AAA membership. We will split that total cost among all of us. Mrarroyo will cover the costs of any additional nights he will be spending.

Oct 23, Nov 27,29 would work for me, but I really think we need to be assured of more people due to the cost, otherwise maybe rent a convention room in one of the nearby hotels. We have done that many times before and it worked out pretty well.

Saturdays work better than Fridays for obvious reasons.

I wouldn't pick the first date possible. In fact, I would plan it in advance as early as possible so as many people get a chance to see it and plan around it.

You should do your research and see what other things are currently planned for those days. That takes a little effort.

Ron, that's probably the best idea. Finding a local hotel, should be a heck of a lot cheaper. I will call around tomorrow and see what happens. Have you been to an Orlando meet before? If so, what hotel - because I can call them up to get a quote. I'll let you know what I find out on my end.

I am in, although my vote would be for a Saturday or Sunday meet. Except for an unexpected emergency event I am open in October and November. A hotel used previously is the Embassy Suites in Altamonte Springs. Below is a link to one of the two room suites.

Embassy Suites Orlando - North*1 KING EXECUTIVE NONSMOK*Amenities

Since I would be driving from Miami Beach I could arrive Friday evening and rent the room for two nights. That way we could start the mini meet at 10:00am on Saturday morning and end it by 8:00pm or so. The cost would be one night divided among all the participants, I of course would pay for one of the nights since I will be staying in the room.

Regardless of the venue, all of us need to make sure the funds are secured up-front from each of us. Otherwise someone could be left with a big bill and that would not be cool. If we have eight participants it would be in the $20 range for the room.

Cheers.

I would not be able to make it from Oct 23 - Nov 6. If the date was moved one way or the other, I would happily participate.

I second the Embassy Suites in Altamonte Springs. And the pricing is acceptable. Those two room suites should be big enough for our mini-meet. I'm in favor of this hotel. I hope everyone else can be in agreement... now all we needs is an agreeable date. As of the moment, any time is good for me. Most people prefer saturdays. It was suggested to me possibly the dates of 10/17 or 11/7. Those are fine with me as well.

Hi guys,

While I am pretty sure I don't own any equipment that would be of interest, I am certainly interested in meeting and greeting with you guys. I am only an hour and a half away in Tampa, so in general any date will work. I do have a part time job starting up in a few weeks and might have some weekend shifts, but I won't know until mid October what my availability will be. If we can get the price to be $20-30 per person, I will be happy to put my share in regardless of my ability to show just to make sure it can happen.

BTW, I believe the International Food and Wine Festival that Epcot has each year runs through the first couple weekends in November. If anyone really likes to eat and drink and wants a chance to taste food and beverages from around the world, I highly recommend it. I have made an annual pilgrammage since I was able to legally drink (even when I lived in NC and MD).

Anyway, happy to have joined this forum and made my first couple purchases. I can't wait to get my first mini-meet under my belt.

Hopefully those revised dates will accommodate you. 10/17, 11/7

My setup is miniscule. But, it's a great opportunity to hear some real audiophiles's set up, and make some new friends.

Both 10/17 and 11/7 are fine with me (unless an emergency comes up ). Let me know if the idea of renting a room at Embassy Suites is appealing. This would work for up to 10 participants, otherwise it would be crowded.
I am able to go either of those days, but much prefer the 11/7 one as I have the previous Friday off from work.
Regardless of the day chosen (10/17 or 11/17) I would depart on the day before the meet (10/16 or 11/16) from the Fort Lauderdale area (where I work) and would return on Sunday (10/18 or 11/18).

I may be able to drive up to two additional Head-Fiers, will update further as time goes buy, of course this means you would need to make arrangements for a room to spend two nights. Also as stated above I would gladly put the room for two nights on my credit card, one night is on me since I will need a lay over, the second night if it is OK will be split among all the participants (payment should be upfront and non-refundable once the room has been booked).

By having two nights back to back it will allow us to start by 10am and finish by 8pm. Otherwise we would have to be at the mercy of the check-in hour of around 3pm if memory serves me right.
