friends i am looking for replacement for my EP 630.I love the bass impact of EP 630 but it seem to be muddy. Treble are harsh and sound is not very detailed. So i want to upgrade,my budget is up to $60
i looking for following things
1)Good bass impact at flat EQ of ipod touch 2g but not muddy as EP 630
2)Comfortable as my EP 630
3)Spacious sound
4)Good build quality as am importing them to India from my US based friend and it will be very difficult for me to get it repair

i listen mostly Trance music and my source is ipod touch 2g.My own research suggests me Nuforce NE-7 ,Denon AH-C551K(available at $ 62 on amazon),and Senheiser CX 400 second edition

Please help me to chose right headphone for me

This thread comes up very often, but I am a trance fan and will help you. Firstlly, what is your price range?

My trance tastes are for space, speed, and bas in that order, so we may differ a bit. But, if you like bass and trance, a few phones are very good. One is the Monster Turbine, another is the Victor FX500, both of which can be had for not much more than 100$ USD. The ne7m is a very good phone, but not full of finesse, space and sense of speed like the other two.

The RE2 from headdirect is now only 39$ and was 99$ a year ago. It is a great buy, a buy which I feel is better for sound reasons alone over the NE7M.

Feel free to PM me as I have oh so much to talk about!

thanks for your input!my budget is $ 60

Monster Turbine($ 150) is way over my budget.what is cost of Victor FX500?
as i have told,i am looking for space and bass

i know there are many threads like this but i think head fi is the only place where i can get information to make right choice. In my country(India) there is very less awareness about headphones and only IEM available are cx 300,ep 630 and bose in ear!

The victor can't be had for much less than the turbine at 150... then i would suggest the RE2 for 39$, over the Ne7m for sure. It has more to offer in terms of detail, space and it is easier to insert and take out.

if you want to read my reviews of the two for comparison, they are here (NE7M) and (RE2). look out for a new fx500 review tomorrow.

I don't like the fx500 for trance and house.I too am a huge trance listener, and while the fx500 are very good but their bass is just too much for this sort of music.I think the most important factor for trance is huge soundstage with airness and sense of space and speed which the ie8 does perfectly well but this is ofcourse out of price range.if you like heavy accurate deep punchy bass, then the fx500 are perfect for you.you should however listen to shigzeo advice because he have a greater amount of IEMs and more experiance.

good reviews! from your reviews both looks good with little edge to RE 2 over NE7M.which will it provide sufficient bass impact at flat ipod touch 2g EQ?
both are sufficient.the ne7m is darker and maybe has more bass impact. but overall quality of sound i would give the go for the re2. it works on a variety of musics and the ne7m does not though it is great for the price and for a mic'd headphone

@ the other one!

i also agree that the fx500 is very bassy for trance, however, if you drive it from a good or decent source like the ipod touch 2/3g which have no bass roll off, the bass is less boomy becasue there is better frequency response down low. i hated the fx500 with my cowon. but anyway, with foam (low density), it is much easier with trance.

but it has space and pace. the ie8 has one big problem for me: the plastic echo. i hated the atrio for trance because of it and the ie8 is as bad. a sound chamber for me should not resonate too much of its materials unless the build is good. the plastic in the ie8 and the atrio simply kill trance for me as they have a cheapish echo. however, i feel they are both very good earphones.

Denon AH-C551 has better bass and they are detailed but if you increase your budget little more then you can buy Denon C710($100) which are very detailed(great detailed mids and clean extended highs) with deep rich bass. Also Klipsch image S4 are quite bass heavy but detailed with warm detailed mids and good highs.

i am confused between 2. RE 2 looks better overall and NE7M have more bass impact(which i love as i am used to EP 630 which have a bit excessive bass)

what about soundstage, durability(as i wont be able to repair/replace) and comfort ?
and what about Denon AH-C551 ?how is that compared to RE2 and NE7M?

Being a hd25 owner the re2 has very little bass to my ears. Very nice iems but I wouldnt recommend them to a basshead.

My 0.02

NE-7M - Good bass, wide stage, good enough detail for trance. Soundstage is a little flat front to back. NE-6 has no mic, is blue, and is $40, but the same otherwise.

RE-2 - More detailed than the NE-7, but bass lite.

If you can stretch your budget a little (I think if you can wait, the reward is huge for the next step up).

Denon C710 ($100) - Great bass, detail and soundstage. Extra bass and treble give this IEM a V-shaped frequency response. I think this IEM is made for trance!

Mingo WM2 silver ($90) - Great bass, detail and soundstage, but more natural sounding, better with acoustic music than the C710. Flatter frequency response than the C710.

Cyclone PR2 ($85) - Haven't heard it, but sounds similar to the WM2.

Audio-Techinca ATH-CKS70 ($85) - Great bass, great soundstage, good detail.

Soundmagic PL-21 ($20) - Was recommended to me by another member, might be worth checking out.

thanks you guys for your help, after going through this thread and some reviews I think NE 7M is suitable for my needs.

My budget is $ 60 only

I read another thread on this forum http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f103/r...5-09-a-383617/ where TS ranks NE 7 M > c700.So i guess NE 7 M >C551

RE 2 looks better but many people says it has less bass impact

so i think i will get NE 7 with good bass ,good soundstage and average details(compared to RE2 ) .It also has remote which will work as play/pause with ipod touch 2g which is nice bonus.

one more query i hope NE7M has good build quality (I am importing to India so no warranty is useless).Do i need to purchase any extra tip?EP 630's small tip fits good for me.So will if NE 7m need any extra purchase i will have to tell my friend during purchase of headphone itself.Because tips wont be available in my country. So suggest me wheather i need any extra purchase.

friends head direct is offering RE2 and Fiio E5 Combo for $50.How is this deal? Will E5 increase bass of RE 2 (i use ipod touch 2g)

if bass impact of RE2 + E5 is on par with unamped NE7M i will surely get the combo because many people says apart from bass quantity RE2 is better than NE7M.Please help me

I think the RE2 synergizes wonderfully with the E5 and will give exactly the sound you are looking for. I am not an advocate of portable amps by any means, but this is one combination that works. It definitely gives the RE2 the edge over the NE-6/NE-7M.
