any thoughts? dont need anything fancy, just something that both look and sound nice

i'd prefer a tube since i like the look more.. is there anything worth it in this price range? or is my budget too low to get anything decent? should i get a receiver instead even if i'll never go 5.1 or use most of its functions?

the speakers are paradigm mini monitor v5, with a velodyne sub

You arent going to get bass management. Unless you subwoofer has a high pass crossover built in you are in trouble. Check to see if it has one.

There are a handful of integrateds in the 400$ price range. Cambrdige has the 340A, 540A, NAD has a few that are worth checking out as well.

The only Receiver/amp that has bass management is the Outlaw audio stereo receiver. But thats above your price range.

NAD 320BEE. Pick it up used on Agon, or get the newer 325BEE new. Killer little integrated.

You will need a highpass sub, however, because as jilgiljongiljing pointed out, nothing at that price range has a bass managed sub out.

Arcam, if you can snag one. If not, then NAD, Rotel, or Cambridge.

thanks for the suggestions.. ive found a NAD amp on craigslist for a good price but before i commit

do you guys think an integrated amp is a better way to go than a receiver? i need to hook up a tv, ps3, and computer to this. but i dont plan on expanding to surround sound

also, are there any good integrated tube amps in the same price range? or do most of them go for $1k+

A Receiver is one with a tuner inside a stereo integrated amplifier. A AV amplifier has multi-channel support. A AV receiver is a av amplifier with a tuner. I would choose a stereo integrated amplifier over a av amplifier for 2 channel anyday.
