FS: Sony Discman D-88

We just moved a couple weeks ago and, while unpacking, came across my old Sony D-88 Discman which I received back in 1989. Cosmetically, it's in really great shape without any scratches, dings, or scuff marks (the old Sony logo consisting of orange dots is still on the cover and not pealing off). Mechanically/electronically, however, it may need some work -- after plugging in the included power adapter (AC-950W), the motor still spins the CD, albeit with a churning noise, and a hissing sound emanates from the headphones. Also, the included battery pack (BP-2) refuses to hold a charge -- it doesn't even get warm when plugged into the charger/power adapter. The leather of the carrying case it originally came in deteriorated, so I threw it out this evening.

So, basically, I'm trying to sell the D-88 for $40 OBO + S&H (which I will calculate for you once you let me know you're interested), which includes the D-88 (of course), the power adapter, and the old battery pack (for your reference). I even have the original newspaper clipping from June 3, 1989 from the Stars & Stripes newspaper (for servicemembers stationed overseas) advertising the D-88 at AAFES (Army & Air Forces Exchange Service), but I don't think you'd want that! LOL!

If you're a collector and/or an electronic technician, this might be a great item for you to collect or fix!

Sony Discman D-88

I am interested.

But would be willing to know whether you could significantly reduce the amount you're selling for (if there are no other readily offers available)

Thanks.
