DIY DAC for maximum 200€ - Page 3

Shesh..

Maybe you should ask here: Opus DAC - Twisted Pear Audio Support

or here: Contact Us

I added a big edit up there.

He would just need 2 transformers and 2 PSU's, one for both Opus boards and one for the IVY. I have a dual mono Opus setup without the IVY (balanced) but I also have the ASRC which made a bigger difference then going dual mono. Either way I'm pretty sure he's above his 200 dollar mark and probably getting close to the price of the Buffalo32 which has everything built in on board already.

Ok so, Dual Mono Opus with SPDIF and PSU, 2 IVY modules with PSU 1 Toslink Module, 15 and 9v transformers. This is 492 US or 335 Euro's. At this point you've spent about as much as the Buffalo 32 and are achieving lower performance and are over budget. Not to mention dual mono opus is very confusing to wire up!

Ok, that is too much, and what about :

Opus module with power supply, IVY with power suply, toslink module and 2x power transformers, that is 297USD, it´s maybe 250€, that is okey, so what now ? Can this work ?
Yeah that would work fine, it would be ~201 Euro's. I still say the Gamma2 is a better deal as it has the onboard ASRC, you can add one to the Opus later but you're already above the price of the Gamma. But it's your decision of course.

AMB Laboratories DIY Audio Site has everything you need to know.

To build the y2 you will need to build a y1 as well.
Does AMB not offer full kits for the y1/2?

So I need first to build y1 and then y2 and put it together or what ? I don´t understand, sorry.
Yes the y2 is sort of an expansion board to the y1.

No... AMB sells PCBs, end panels, and some difficult-to-source components. Everything else is up to you. He does provide Mouser and Digikey part numbers for pretty much everything, though.

Yes the y2 is based on being an upgrade/addition to the y1.

y1/y2 can be powered only from USB ? BillyK can you send me photos from inside of your gamma 1? Thank you.

I calculate it, and for y1 + y2 without panels is only 60USD ? I think that I somewhere made a mistake.
Can I use there WM8741?
buy the wolfson wm8741 evaluation board, and change the analog stage on it.
price is below 200eu and sound is not worse than from the buffalo32.

check the lampizator.eu page for review
and profusionplc for DAC.
