Who else doesn't download? - Page 2

They need to put lossless up on Amazon. I thought their music was sampled at a sufficiently high bit rate, until I bought one album and then compared it to the real cd on my home stereo. There was no contest, the lossless file killed the Amazon download. That was the last album I downloaded from Amazon, and I was buying a few.

I've paid for and downloaded a few of 24/96 or 24/88 recordings, but aside from that I couldn't be bothered with all of the low res crap. As far as illegal file sharing of discs, NEVER! I'm a firm believer in an Artists right to get compensation for their labors. I even won't let friends borrow discs to rip, except if the disc is out of print and therefore unobtainable.

FM radio sucks so badly now days that I use my Duet to listen to Pandora and Radio IO to find new music that I might want to purchase. The Duet works really well for background listening and finding new music.

No downloads for me in general - I like the physical CD and enjoy the ripping as well.

The only things I download are bootlegs from www.archive.org ... and Nine Inch Nails' free for download album The Slip.

No downloads for me either, I prefer to have a physical copy of all my music.

Now this is a good one! Just think about it!

I'm in 100% agreement w/ the OP. Nothing like popping that new CD in and relaxing!

I love walking in a CD store and buying a random CD with a nice cover. Has not really let me down either. And most of the time I see a disc where I remember I listen to it often and take it too.
I still have to work on backing up all of my 'try-out' downloads with physical bought CD's but I'm getting pretty close. Most music I regularly listen to now also sits on a shelve.

Downloading is a sin

Most of the music I listen to now can't be found to download. The albums are either OOP, the distribution too small, and/or the artist too obscure. I usually rely on used CDs fulfill my needs.

I kinda do it all. I like to buy used CDs from Amazon so I can rip lossless (I have zero B&M music stores in my area), but lately I do not mind DLing from Amazon or iTunes. It sounds fine coming from Headroom Desktop amp/ dac as well as my iphone (and I like that the 256 doesn't take up all my space). I figured out a couple years ago I was much more interested in the music- than getting the best SQ.

I don't download. I use a CD player and a turntable. I could download FLAC and burn it, so it's not like I won't ever do it. I just like buying CDs since they are the same price or less than downloading FLAC when purchased used.

I have never downloaded. Only LPs and CDs for me - still have my first record from about '70 and nearly everything since then.

Plus I don't like how downloads are tagged (I like having the official tracklisting from the back of the CD). I don't see myself starting to download any time soon. Anyone else here like me?
Yes but think of all the music you are missing out on. This is when the music lover has to come out not the audiophile in you. Sometimes you just can always have the best quality, i would rather hear new music on shat quailty than the same tracks in lossless over and over.

I sample by downloading, and anything I like I buy. I have been burned before with albums getting rave reviews/good 30 second samples and buying based on that. It works well for me, since I like a physical product, but I can see if I like it before I pull the trigger.

Until yesterday, my collection was 100% download free, legal or otherwise. I had a friend find and DL a copy of Porcupine Tree: Recordings to listen to. I'll listen to it for a few days then delete it. I was offered a new CD for an iffy price, and I want to be sure I like the music enough to justify the expense.

All of my music is otherwise on commercial CDs.

Vinyls and CDs for. I listen to bands who need the money and it sounds way better having a physical copy. Also, as an artist I appreciate having a nice piece of art to admire (or oftentimes deride) when holding the album in my hands.
