I'm lost, and really need you help

Hi there,

For one year, I've been trying to find the perfect replacement for my so lovely (but dead) headphone Philips 1505u.

This models is based on the HP1000, except that it's wireless, works with two batteries of 1,5v, and has a bass/treble boost on the headphone.

With the bass/treble boost activated, the bass are absolutely amazing, and it's exactly what I'm desperatly looking for.

I've bought the HD650, the A900, HD595, AKG271, Sony MDR-XB700, DT770 pro80, and none of them gave me the same bass feeling (like my head is between 2 subwoofer)
*Note that I tried them without amp.

Tomorrow I'm receiveing the shure 840, but I'm pretty sure it'll be the same.

It's why I"m asking you : What headphones are for me ?

This is more information about my request :

First,the specification of the philips

• Transducer type : Electro - dynamic.
• Operating principle : semi-open.
• Frequency range : 40 - 24 000 Hz.
• Channel separation : 40 dB.
• Ratio S/N : 85 dB.
• Speaker type : Dome Mylar.
• CMagnetic cicruit : Néodyme degré N40.
• coil : CCAW.
• speakers size : 50 mm.
• Impédance : 32 Ohms.
• Sensitivity : 106 dB

Then, what kind of heaphones I'mm looking for :

- The heapdhone is for home, so it can be big
- Semi-closed or closed
- Tight enough to be sure that if I move my head, the headphone doesn't move.
- speakers size 50 mm.
- It's gonna be plugged on a not powerfull amp "dolby headphone"
- It's majority for movies ; so, lot of bass is needed
- Under 500$

Sennheiser surrounder. Literally between 2 subwoofers. Why not get a a very open headphone with a subwoofer? Maybe an electrostat?

skullcandy makes a pair of headphones that literally incorporate powered subwoofers. They are the most horrible things I have ever heard, but they might be right up your alley.

BEATS BY DR. DRE
They have bass that you can't tell whether it's mechanical vibrations coming from a motor, or sound. I guarantee their bass would impress, nay astound you. Go to a local Best Buy and try some today! Cruisin' down the street, smokin' indo, sippin on gin and juice...laiiiid back

The philips HP1000 was a very good headphone, so I think I can hope something better than Skkullcandy

About Stax, why not.
In fact, I've ordered a SVS Realiser, and it'll be provided with the SR2050 system.
I"ve never heart an open Stax, but it seems they're not very bassy.

I was thinking maybe the Denon 2000, I don't know.
And I'm tired to lose so much money to buy, try, and not be satisfied

Denon D5000s have huge bass, the only criteria they may not meet is that they don't fit your head that tightly and may fall off if you move alot

Considering your previous headphones frequency range is 40 - 24,000 Hz. I'm guessing that bass boost is giving you a mid hump rather than sub woofer like bass. I suggest you take a look at ultrasones, fairly easy to drive, sit pretty tightly on the head so they won't shake off and best of all they sound great, especially with movies. HFI-780 for $250 or pro-900 for around $500.

If you don't like the HD650, the A900, HD595, AKG271, Sony MDR-XB700, DT770 pro80 (all top notch quality headphones with excellent bass), then really your only option is as Sherwood said - go for the artificial, muddy, bloated unrealistic bass provided by powered Skuulcandies or Dr Dre - truly garbage headphones, but may give you what you're looking for.

And it's what I like.

I've always been interesting in the Ultrasone's, but I'm scared to find them uncomfortable.

I wonder what would happen if you used an amp on one of these headphones. I don't know. If you would be OK with IEM's try the JVC marshmallow. these have pretty good bass but the sacrifice clarity a bit. I would imagine Sony would make a good Bass heavy phone. I'm kind of going the opposite direction and looking for smoothness and clarity over bass.
