Holy cow! I ordered carry-out from pizza hut tonight and needed something to drink, so I got a 2-liter of mountain dew. I don't normally drink caffeine but they didn't have anything non-caffeinated there (thanks a lot pepsico).

ZZZZZZZZZZing! I am seeing sparks and i think my hair is standing on end. I only drank two glasses of this stuff!. I should have picked a different night besides when I have an essay due which I haven't started, and if I don't finish by tomorrow I won't be able to graduate in March. This stuff must be nice if you know how to channel the energy though. I wonder if this is how my 2-year-old feels when we give him a couple of skittles.

wheee!

Sheesh... a good cup of coffee and caffinated mints still do not supercharge me... I guess I am unlucky.

Though, I have found that multivitamins keep me quite alert if I take them in the night and on the next day.

Hmm, yep. I drank a liter of Dew yesterday, mostly because I wanted to get rid of the bottle. I usually stay away from caffeine, but this was left over from the night before. Needless to say, that hit me pretty hard.

Caffeine is a powerful drug; too many people underestimate it. Yes, it's legal, but that doesn't mean it's inert or weak...

It takes a lotta caffeine to have much effect upon me nowadays. Kinda sucks. I remember when I had my wisdom teeth out back in 7th grade, the surgeon put an I.V. in my arm which administered the anaesthetic. He kept staring at me waiting for me to fall asleep. I just stared back in confusion, waiting for something to happen. It eventually did kick in, although it took both the drug and the gas mask a decent amount of time to work their magic.

I think it's time for another Penguin mint...mmm...stupid paper. It's all your fault! Yeah, I'm talking to you, buster!

Mmm'kay I'll be quiet now.

Fortunately for me, I can channel a caffeine boost quite well.

I try to have caffeine (in soft drink form, usually) every other day or two. This way, my body doesn't get so used to it that I need a ton to get an effect, but when I do drink it my body won't freak out on me.

And when I'm in dire need, like the night before last when I had to basically pull an all-nighter to finish my data structures project (stupid B-Tree... not binary tree, mind you, B-Tree ), I go straight for the good stuff. 1 capsule of Xenadrine was all it took to keep me focused all night!

Now, you want to talk about tolerance. I had a friend in high school who drank a TON of Pepsi, and had a really high tolerance. Just for fun, I gave him a couple of Ripped Fuel pills to see how he'd react. He went right to sleep 30 minutes later!

You Americans are blessed with your caffeinated Mountain Dew! We Canucks are stuck with the decaf-ed kind... I just this http://www.cs.unb.ca/~alopez-o/Coffe...ml#HowMuchCaff. It seems MD (the good kind) has more caffeine than Coke! But you GOTTA try Jolt... Very good stuff. I'm quite the caffeine addict myself... see my sig. Yesterday, I had a Latte, then I had Jolt, then Coke, all in the same hour... I've never been so high on caffeine in my life! Caffeine highs don't last very long for me anymore though... I was feeling pretty dead by the end of the day.. then I started feeling sick.. like, "Oh God I wanna throw up" sick. I'm going to stay away from coffee et al for today, just in case. I'm just reading the FAQ that I mentioned earlier.. apparently one can overdose after ingesting over 250 mg of caffeine in a short amount of time. Well, in that lunch hour I had at least 300 mg according to that chart... I really think I did OD.
So yes, caffeine is indeed veeeery powerful... Caffeine withdrawal is NOT a pretty thing.

Speaking of which.. Time to make some coffee!

Actually, that happened to me too last night. It mostly sucked. I was so jittery that I couldn't work at all, so I went to take a shower and spent about an hour trying to keep my dinner down. I finally just went to sleep and decided to get up early (9am is early for me. heh.) to do the work. I feel much more clear-headed now.

The funniest part is that I'm a computer science student finishing up one of the top undergrad programs in the country. You'd think I'd be used to caffeine by now, but nope. That stuff totally sent me bouncing off the walls. I haven't been that hyped-up since I tried dropping acid. Speaking of which...the first time I did that it was the night before my very first college final ever. That wasn't such a hot idea.

On sunday night, in the space of 45 minutes I had 4 shots of Vodka and 3 latte with double baileys (alcoholic, a chocolate flavour spirit). And man, I was drunk and high on caffeine!

I don't drink much caffeine. Maybe the equivalent of 2 cans of Mountain Dew a month. Most of my energy in the mornings comes from Sobe Elixir[sp?] (even though my school also as Sobe Energy, more on that later), which is carrot/orange juice with the trademark Sobe Tons Of Sugar(tm). Now, I used to drink Sobe Energy(occasionally), until I noticed it affecting my vision and giving me monster headaches. Seriously! Around noon or so (two hours after the caffiene intake) I'd get seemingly random blind spots (which I could only locate by figuring out what I *couldn't* see, it made reading email impossible) followed by a headache, and then tunnel vision, until the headache and tunnel vision went away and I felt normal.

Weird, eh?

I stick to Mountain Dew nowadays.
