Interest Check: NY Area Fall Meet

Suggested date: November 14.

Suggested venue: Knights of Columbus Hall, Harrison, NY.

This is the same place as the previous fall meet. I've run the idea by a few of my "trusted advisors" and there are mixed opinions of the venue. Some say it was convenient and it worked fine. Others found the space to be a bit small.

Personally I think there was a enough room but we did have one vendor that brought enough equipment to fill 3 tables. It was a tremendous setup but it did tax the available space a bit. Still, all in all I think it worked out well.

I'd hate to have to put limits on anyone or anything.

One of the factors is the venue is very convenient for me. It's around the corner from my house, and the person responsible for renting the hall is my neighbor. I could look around for a different venue that would fall in our price range but I can't guarantee I have the time. If too many people aren't happy with this venue I may have to bow out of organizing or ask for some help in finding a venue.

When you post with your interest, please indicate whether or not you attended the previous Harrison meet and if you are OK with the space.

Here are the meet and impressions threads from the previous meet:

Always up for a meet with the NYC crew. I was at the Harrison Meet and I agree that it was a bit crowded, but it was a good meet, as usual. I always like to have more space and I'm also always hot, so maybe I'm not the best barometer here. Regardless, I don't have any strong feelings against the location and if Harrison is the chosen venue, you have my full support.

I cannot wait for another Fall NYC meet

I was at the last meet in Harrison - it was very crowded, dim, warm, and loud. However, I'd rather have a meet there, than none at all Count me in!!!

Fantastic date

i think harrison and the date is fine.

every location/venue has its issues. i think the important thing is to *have* a meet and not bicker about small items. we had good fun last time, so why not.

count me in!

I was sort of hoping for the Adria Hotel in Bayside. I was considering getting a room so that I wouldn't have to rush to leave for the 3 hour drive home.

Anyway, wherever it is I'm probably game.

That's traditionally the site of the spring meet. I'm happy to have it at the Adria in the fall as well, but it's a bit too much of a burden on immtbiker to have to organize 2 meets per year.

I'm in. Harrison was very convenient for me.

Suggestion 1: Lock in the date asap so that we can get vendors to commit. This is just post RMAF, and travel plans may need to be made now.

Suggestion 2: Ask anyone attending, including MOT's, to limit gear to one table per.

There were between 40 and 50 people at the previous meet.

I'd like to come. It'll be my first meet -- and it's pretty much "walking distance" for me :-)
