Grado SR325is recable to balanced- need help

Posted over in cable forum first but not getting any response...

I am new to the balanced thing and I got an incredible deal on some 325is phones. I need them balanced for my Phoenix. I did my D7000's without issue as there are four wires but what about the newest Grado wire, are there four wires in that?
Can someone give me some info regarding the wires and their colors/polarities before I cut it open?
Thanks

I know that the SR325is (if you mean the newest silver model and aren't just referring to SR325i in the plural) have 8 conductors, beyond that I can't help.

Yes, the newest. This is part of why I ask since I don't know where to start with all those wires.
Thanks.

Well one the back of the Balanced pins the are 3 pins. One is a little recessed and that is ground. The next two go in order from left/right.

If you are doing two 3-pin XLR's (one for each channel), then only do the Ground and Positive connections.

I should imagine that if they are using 8 wires then its easy to work out.
Just open up the plug I imagine there will be 2 for left,2 for right and 4 for common.
After you have the commons unsoldered just check them with a multimeter,2 left,2 right.

IDK what ford2 is suggestion.. "open up the plug"..
opening up a manufactured plug is easier said than done.

That said, if you cut off the plug with extra room.. you can strip all the wires on the plug side and use a multimeter to check for continuity and easily figure out which wires are left, right, and ground.

now that you've found your 2 left, 2 right, and 4 ground.. you strip the wires on non-plug side, and then check the resistance between the left and the grounds.
two of them should read 32 ohms.. 2 of them shouldn't have any connection.
the two reading 32 ohms are your left ground.

does this make sense? if not, I can try to explain better.
I am well aware that it's a bad explanation right now.
