A Sin%$#)(&^%? Or maybe Xin is building one! Sorry could not resist!

I too would be disapointed if the amp was two months late, however you have a lot of toys to play with.

Be patient for the Woo WES. I cancelled on my BHSE after waiting over a year, but still regret not being patient for it.

I have waited 16 months for the BHSE. How can I know if there is anything to regret before I get it?

I have fully paid on my BHSE since late October and have been told repeatedly "I am finishing it this week." At some point you just lose the ability to be patient. Hearing the BHSE at CanJam in LA only makes this experience that much more frustrating. If vendors under promised and over delivered instead of the reverse a lot of that frustration could be avoided.

Nooooo... Did Mikhail get hired to make BHSE's?!
Mikhail not only dragged on for years to make the amps but when(if) he delivered you got gear that,in the case of the ES-1, performed far from spec and was downright dangerous. That is not the case with anything Justin builds.

As for the BHSE, I paid mine in full in late 2008 and I'm still waiting but Justin knows that I'm in no rush. In fact the amp would just get neglected should I get it soon. Too much other cool stuff to listen too...

My statement was half-way a joke and half disbelief.

I know nothing about Justin's designs and builds, but I have never heard anything bad about them, however I do know that being repeatedly told "I am finishing it this week." for months at a time is not something that instills confidence in people, especially in light of so many here who have had similar experiences with Mikhail.

And I don't mean to thread-jack in any way.

I would sure love to hear a WES and see how it compares to what I was hearing with my now dead SP Concerto.
The major source of Justin's delays is his machine shop as they just can't keep up. That was the case with my old BH in 2004 and appears to be the case now. I have similar issues in my own buisness and simply changing suppliers can lead to a whole range of other issues.

Ever thought about rebuilding that Concerto? A properly redone ES-1 (which your amp really is) would certainly be on par with the WES.

The problem is the Power Supply. It appears, at a minimum, the diodes were underpowered and blew. I replaced a few of them once with exact replacements, but after a few months of working and it blew again, it took out a few more companants and fried some of the PCB contacts. At a minimum I would need to build a higher powered external rectifier, but since I'm not sure if there are other design issues with it, I would hate to mess around with trial and error, especially since I don't know what any of the voltages, etc. should actually measure. Currently it's at Boulder Cable, where Wayne looked at it and said it would take more the six months and serveral thousands of dollars for him to analyze the circuits and come up with a stable fix. Thats too much to pay for no guarantee that it will be really fixed, so I told him to just send it back. He should be sending it back with my transformer-replaced MPX3 any day now though.

I really want to fix it, as it probably produced the most beautiful music from both the Electrostatic and Dynamic sections I've heard (only with the right tubes though).

If you could take some high-res pictures of the insides then DR. Gilmore and I would be more then happy to look them over. That would at least take care of some of the analysis part and we could see what needs to be done. The other Concerto's we've seen picks of were just two amps in the same chassis, ES-1 and the standard WCF circuit Mikhail used. We have plenty of data on how to fix either circuit but with SP you never know what is inside each amp so there might be some surprises.

The same for me, fully paid three months ago and Justin told six weeks ago that it would be finished "very soon".

It may be that there are delays in the machine shop, but Justin is not very communicative and that kind of information usually comes from third parties.

To anyone waiting for a BHSE:

It's worth the wait.

Yes, I know it's an overused cliche and it has been said about many products, most of which were probably undeserving.

How do I know? I've been listening to one for the past six months.

I can't imagine someone receiving a BHSE and not liking it. Just in case there is such a rare animal existing in the world, let me preemptively congratulate you on your exceedingly refined listening tastes, you are definitely special.

For the 8N rest of the people, I'm pretty sure you will be very happy with the BHSE, as I am.

This same thing could probably be said of the Woo WES. Where are the WES owners? Yes, I admit I'm a BHSE owner visiting a Woo WES thread. If the BHSE is so great already, why am I here? A good question.

We need someone to do a BHSE vs. WES comparison!

even though i want a BHSE, i'm glad i did not order one.
