It's training camp this weekend and the prospects are playing tournament hockey. Carolina plays Minnesota for the 1st place game and St. Louis faces the NY Rangers for 3rd.

It's been an off-season hangover with Detroit falling short of general fan expectations. Player movement, health and youth have put excitement back in the game and the balance of league strength gives a renewed sense hope for the rest of us.

How do you see your team's +/- going into training camp and what are your expectations for them?

It's time for

Hoc-key, hoc-key, hoc-key........

The Colorado Avalanche are going to suck...again. They still haven't picked up a good goalie and Sakic is retired. Oh well. There's always football and the Denver Broncos for us Coloradans. Oh snap!

I would like to have another massive Cole Harbour parade

How does loosing Pronger impact that parade?

Ec, you have the Rockies, Nuggets and Broncos to help ease the transition of rebuilding.

I predict the Blackhawks and Ducks in the West Final next year and the winner takes the Cup against whoever wins in the East.

Chicago may be too injured to play before the season starts.

As long as Hossa can return a month before the playoff starts and is reasonably healthy I'm not too concerned. The other guy, Burish if they need to they can always trade a second or third round draft pick for a player like that from a team that doesn't have a chance in the playoffs.

I'm not a fan of teams that go gung-ho all season to be first overall in the conference if it means their their goalie is burnt out and the players are fatigued. As long as a team is 3rd, 4th or 5th overall in their conference, that's good enough.

San Jose got Heatley, if they make a few more decent trades they might end up being the best team in the West.

Leafs are a lost cause already, I can feel it. Sens and Habs aren't too spectacular either, so Bruins will most likely take the NE again, even with the loss of Kessel.

It'll be interesting to see if San Jose can put it all together this year, with the addition of Heatley.

Btw, anyone interested in a Head-Fi fantasy hockey league? We've had a couple ones for football and baseball already, might as well branch out to hockey.

Hopefully this will be the Canucks year to make a serious playoff push. They've looked good in the pre season so far going undefeated. Hopefully their pick ups on the defense can produce.

My Panthers are looking good in the pre-season games..Translation: It's going to be another loooong season ahead of me . I could be wrong though, I figure it's still a wee bit early to get worried about hockey when I still carry my golf clubs in the car 'just in case'...

I hear ya...I played yesterday and it was dead. It was also the best round I played all year at 3 over. 5 bogeys, 2 birdies and 11 pars.

I am a bandwagon Blackhawks fan. I've never watched a full Blackhawks game (in person or on TV) before last season's playoffs. I am looking forward to this season, and I enjoy learning about the sport (penalties, strategy, etc.). Kane is on the cover of NHL 10, cool!
