The same thing happened after I bought my first pair of Alden shell cordovan shoes. I started lurking on the Alden StyleForum thread and the next thing I know I had purchased seven pairs of shell cordovan dress shoes in three months. I'm calling my psychiatrist.

Only a month old and the RS1i's are going into cosmetic mod mode. Received a new Turbulant Lab Black Only Manta headband, Martin Audio black roadblocks/gymbals on the way and some Howard Feed'n'Wax on order.  When everything is in, gonna wax 'em up and put the new stuff on.

On the Woo WA6 side, I'm actually preferring the RS1i out of the Vali instead of the Woo.  Maybe because the Woo is still breaking in.. not sure.  It's stunning with the HD800.  We'll see when the Sophia Princess comes in and I've had a change to break in the whole rig.

Fun times.

yeah, fun times indeed !!

your findings regarding the vali/wa6 don't surprise me too much, both are great, just different to me, the wa6 had the edge in tonalitymaybe

and the vali, maybe dynamics, the wa6 i had at the time was broken in, but with stock tubes

can't wait to see your finished rs1i

Thanks kindly Jay. Mal is the name. High fidelity is the game. Haha. I'm a 58 year old divorced guy and I am one of the biggest headphone phreaks around! I'm constantly thinking about friggin' headphones. (Yeah, I need a life).

Ever since I was a teen I've always pursued the highest quality music reproduction that I could afford, especially from portable audio. It always amazed me how good some of these portable items (cassette walkmans/cd players) could sound, and it was obviously decent quality headphones that allowed them to perform so well, for a portable. So ever since then I have always enjoyed my music with headphones. Good quality speakers are obviously a must for any decent audio system but for me nothing beats the immediacy, intimacy and details that quality phones can bring, right?

I really dig Grado's. So clear/vibrant and lightening fast response. So in your face! I first bought some 60's. A while later, 125's. Then more for portable use, 80i's. I love them all, but NOTHING compares of course to my RS1is. Just sublime!! I'm just running them from a Furutech ADL GT40 and they sound great. But they also are great straight out of the phones jack of either of my vintage receivers. I have read from you all that a headphone amp isn't really necessary for any of the Grados and I agree with that. However I sure would like to try the RS1's out of a tube amp someday. That Mad Ear seems to be the most popular eh? I believe you have one right? I gather you just love it.

Thank you Joseph. Looking forward to parlaying with you as well.

Are any of you aware of the Canadian site canuckaudiomart.com? A guy has listed for sale a Grado HF-2 for $460.00

I gather it's a fine phone but probably nowhere as good as the RS1i?

honestly, other than having a read a review or two, and knowing that they were special made as a head-fi piece, i don't know that much,

i'm familiar with canuckaudiomart, and they have a usadiomart site too, i haven't had any luck there, i never got responses from any seller

but maybe i had something set up wrong

Welcome to the darkside maltronics, we have a nice group of people here, but be warned, if you venture out of the Grado threads, you could wind up in hostile territory.

Oh! and thank for saying that  ''we all ROCK'', thats very nice of you, especially since I don't even own the RS1i.
