Grado RS1i Impressions thread - Page 53

Hey there RS1 owners,

Anyone try replacing the stock headband with an upgrade? I'm trying to remove the rod from the block a la Turbulent Labs tutorial (done it several times with many Prestige Series models with no problem) and I cannot get the rod to come out!

Is there something extra holding the rod inside in the RS1?

Many thanks!

I used to have a fairly large collection of headphones which became unlistenable once i heard the RS1i so i sold most of them. The ones i can remember were Sennheiser 558, 598 and Momentums both supra and circumaural versions, Bowers and Wilkins P3 & P5, Audio Technica ATH-A700, Bose MIE21 & AE2i and i know there were some others which i i've forgotten. Now i do realise that the RS1i's are in a different class and far more expensive than anything i listed which is why i used such a strong statement i guess. When i get around to checking out other similarly priced cans i'll be able to revise that statement lol.

Any recommendations.

I currently have my RS1i's plugged into a Marantz CR603 media player. Playing music from CD is simply magical on this. I also plug them into my Fiio E09k + E07k which i use to play music from my PC, the E07k adds a nice touch of warmth.

I'd be willing to bet that the RS1 are the most loved Grados of all, followed very closely by the PS1000, nah!, just kidding. I think that the SR80 and SR225 are very close together, at number two and three.
