I've never seen that one in person.  I don't own any ELP.  I looked at the Wikipedia article for that album and the circular part is a window that shows a portion of the face image that is behind the front part of the cover.  Neat.  I wonder how well the CD releases replicate that original LP album art design?  Probably not so well.
